ROFL - Why not go all the way at the mini golf putting course? If I can get past the windmill, I might have a chance.

I've had a good day if I don't fall out of the cart...

On that note my hole-in-one total just went from 1 to 56.

Like our 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 2014, 20152016201720182019, and 2020 threads, here's the official thread for 2021!

The rules are the same as they've been:

  1. Post your personal golf-related goals for 2020. Be specific and thorough.
  2. Elaborate on how you'll go about achieving these goals. Details, people! :-)
  3. Post just once this year in this topic. So, make it a good post. (Though if you reach all of your goals, you should quote your post and revise them later in the year. Then you should set harder goals next year. 😄)
  4. Keep the replies to a minimum. This thread is mostly for the posting of goals. If you want to encourage more discussion of your goals, post a copy of them in your Member Swing thread. If you want to discuss someone else's goals in more depth than a few replies, quote them in their Member Swing topic.

If you're looking to recap your 2020 goals, that topic can be found right here.

Let's hear 'em!

Remember, please, that good goals should be SMART:

  • S - Specific
  • M - Measurable
  • A - Attainable
  • R - Relevant
  • T - Time-based

We have the "T" because it's 2021. The rest, well, make good choices.

2022 approaches... rapidly!

Goal Number 1: PLAY MORE GOLF!!!!!!!!!

I think I only played about a half dozen full rounds of golf last year. ... ugh.

I've already signed up for a Wednesday Night Men's League. That should help.

Goal Number 2: Keep a Handicap.

I think the league I signed up for will allow me access to keep a handicap. If not, I'll have to find another way.

Goal Number 3: Take at least one golf related trip.

Right now I'm either going to Las Vegas in late April/early May or playing in the Wisconsin trip that's talked about here:

Goal Number 1: PLAY MORE GOLF!!!!!!!!! - Done. I played about 30 full rounds and 16-week long 9-hole league.

Goal Number 2: Keep a Handicap.  Done. I finished just under 19. Not where I want it to be. But I do have a handicap.

Goal Number 3: Take at least one golf related trip. Done. Went to Vegas. Played a tournament. It was great.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
