Okay, so I remember last year when Mizuno came out with a set of all copper MP-20's. I thought they were cool. They sold for $2000.00 per set. Which is expensive, but to be honest, it didn't seem ridiculous. Anyway, I never really considered getting a set. But I do think they are cool.

Now Cobra has come out with a set.

Cobra's set are going for $2500.00.

Which again, is a lot. But in my opinion it isn't ridiculous. I'm just not sure who these clubs are targeting? Old guys? ... Young guys? ... Collectors? Mizuno seems to have much more of a cult like following when it comes to their irons. Does Cobra have enough cache' to make people run out and get a set of these? ... I don't know? What do you all think?

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I guess if you wanted to be like Rickie these are the clubs you buy. Though based on recent form, not sure that's much of a selling point.

These clubs look good from the back but I found the top down view far less attractive. Similar to the Hogans where the hosel look disproportionally thick versus the top line of the blade. Just my opinion.

Copper "should" have a very soft feel. I wonder how they plan to keep it as Copper though.

Coppertone 😜

The Mizuno irons were raw copper, so they didn’t. I don’t know the exact finish in the Cobra set.

Yeah, my Dad was a plumber, my grandfather was a plumber. I’m a fancy plumber. I’m like Mona Lisa Devito.

I thought for the raw finish, they wanted them to patina.

Then they can be called Statue of Liberty irons.

    • So I have a son-in-law that I really like, and he plays.  Not great, averages 100-110 on a normal course.  For his birthday I got him a series of 5 lessons (he's never had lessons before) from a well-regarded local pro.  He hasn't started them yet.  For Christmas I am getting him a fitting and clubs from a local clubmaker with credentials and equipment out the wazoo:   And following the fitting I will be having the clubmaker make him 13 clubs (he already has a putter he really likes and putting is one of the better parts of his game).  I'll let the clubmaker and him work out how many 'woods', how many and which hybrids, how many and which irons, and how many and which wedges.  Other than paying I don't want to inject myself into the process. So my question for the board is which should happen first, the fitting/building of the clubs or the lessons?  I can see arguments on both sides and I just thought this would be a good place from which to get some input.  Thoughts?
    • Day 2: 12/11/2024 Today I spent another half hour or so in front of the mirror working on my PPJ. I still feel like an orangutan performing brain surgery with a hack saw. It's a big departure from the way I had been timing my moves in the past.  Here's a quick video of my practicing.
    • Two summers ago, my dad spent 3-4 months going back and forth from hospital to rehab. Sadly, it was his cholesterol meds causing muscle atrophy that kicked it off. At any rate, we weren’t sure he would be around very long let alone play golf again. Long story short, my son and I played a round with him this past summer, and he whipped us both. Never say never.
