I’m experimenting with different putting grips and struggling with distance control.  I also seem to be pushing the ball quite a bit on putts and I’m making zero from 5-10 feet.

i play golf right handed but I’m left handed - dominant left hand.

what would be the best putting grip to try?

One where you’re not accelerating. 🙂

Hit putts righty only for awhile. Tough to flip when it’s righty only, or at least you’ll notice.

You pretty much have to find the best grip for you by trying different ones. Personally, I have found the claw grip very effective in that it encourages a stroke controlled by the shoulders and minimizes my right hand, which can be overactive. As to whether you should putt right handed or switch to left handed (teaching pro Matt Dobyns is a right handed player who putts left handed) I can't offer any different advice that to try it and see if it works.

Yes, I believe he's saying practice a few using only the right hand on the club

Thanks.  I don't think I've done that drill in years.

And as I type this, I worry I'm becoming the guy who tries a lot of different things for the swing, except instead of the swing, it's for the putting.

Try a few . Use the one you make the most putts with. Give them all a decent length go practice wise.

Double reverse overlap. So bottom fingers of the left hand overlap the right instead of the right overlapping on top of the left.

right hand only putting is a good drill. Great to get the feel of the putter.

Also try varying grip pressure. I use a grip that I got from Stan Utley’s book The Art of Putting. But I have a more firm grip with my left hand (lead hand) than my right. The left leads the stroke and the right is on to add stability.

Four putts inside 10 ft, I slow down my backswing immensely, which gives me better control.
