A friend suggested my 60 degree Cleveland Tour Action 900 wedge wasn't legal to play with, not on tour at least. Just wondered if anyone knew before I go down the rabbit hole of researching it? Many thanks.

OK. Thanks for this. Don’t want to be using a club the pros aren’t allowed. Feels wrong.

Not necessarily.  “Clubs that conformed to the rules that were in effect prior to Jan. 1, 2010 will continue to conform to the Rules of Golf until at least 2024, unless the Condition is in effect.”

The “condition” they reference is a condition of competition. There are other conditions of competition, such as the one ball rule, and I don’t feel bad about not adhering to that. I also don’t routinely check my driver for coefficient of restitution to verify that it hasn’t changed.

If it would affect participation if a high level competition, yeah, I’d switch. But other than that, they comply until 2024.  And since they worded it “at least,” I expect they’ll make some clarification in 2023–two years from now.

I think I'll keep using it until 2024. Just as well since it is a decent club for me currently. Today it stalked the 50 yard flag on the range well. Thanks for the info everyone.

    • Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.
    • Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.
    • Back in the saddle after vacation.  Day 1: played 18. Did not have it, but still battled to an 82. Felt closer to a 90, but that’s fine.
    • Yes, I have seen this from the older crowd that play the 4,700 yard tees and want to know why they get less strokes from there. Always trying to game the system 🤣
    • Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
