My backswing is too long (left arm may be 11 o'clock position at the top) leading to too much movement in the lower body and possibly one of the causes of early release. I tried to reduce it around 9:30 or 10 o'clock position but some how I am not able to do it. My lower body is relatively quiet during the turn until I pass the 10 o'clock and then my left knee collapse.

When I practice I thought I have shortened the swing to the 9 o'clock position at the top of the backswing but on video nothing has changed.

I am thinking about buying or building a device that hits my arm if I overswing on the backswing. Is there something I can buy or copy and build?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Without seeing your swing issue, it’s tough to tell if your overswinging. But this thread below can help.

FWIW, my instructor actually had me increase my backswing length because I got short and too quick. But I already had the right arm part down. There a drill video on page three of the above thread that helps get the feel. Your backswing should feel wide, long and high without the left arm collapsing and the right are getting behind you. This sets you up for a well sequenced downswing.

Also check out the right arm challenge below.

Hard to tell what exactly is going on with out seeing your golf swing.

Starting a My Swing thread would help out.

The bolded part could be a big thing. Try to start the swing with turning your body. Really focus on not doing much with your arms.

I went to Lowes, bought some PVC Piping to make something i could stick in my golf bag that would interfere with my swing if I went to long. I found that I needed to turn my shoulders way less than before, what feels like 1/2 the amount of turn. For the most part, my arms doing very little.

I bought some a few 2' straight pieces, a straight connector, a 90 degree elbow. Then I just cut one of the pieces so that it was at a good height.

Might need to adjust the angles a bit before it all sets up!

Or, how about this?

There is a swing aid called the Swing Click Plus.  The below site was pulled randomly from Google.  I picked mine up in South Africa and when I use it regularly, helps with tempo and timing.  Which also helps you with backswing length if done properly.
