When I got fitted for my TSi2 fairway wood the shaft I ended up in was a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX with HEXCEL HEXTOW near the tip section.  Is this HEXCEL tech similar to the Fujikura VeloCore?  20210903_174406.thumb.jpg.955f76376f2beba80b6e8e2796863e74.jpg

I believe it is the type of carbon fiber filament that is used in making the shaft.

Hexcel’s HexTow® carbon fiber is the preferred carbon fiber for the world’s most advanced aerospace and industrial applications.

Velocore appears to be more of a manufacturing process versus the fiber itself.

VeloCore technology, found in the Ventus line of shafts, is a multi-material bias core construction technique that delivers ultimate stability through transition and impact.

@boogielicious,How on Earth did you beat me to the answer?
I believe Mr Boogielicious is exactly correct.

One is a material, the other is a process.

Just my opinion, Both are really good shafts. Of course opinions are like @ssholes everyone has one.... And everyone else's stinks.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

It is a great (very stable) shaft but I don't think the profile is right for me.  I think I should have gone with the RDX Blue profile based on my swing characteristics but that is ok.

It's 95% marketing. Just highlighting the small amount of more expensive materials used or new layering methods. Need to justify charging $300 for a shaft.

I have the RDX Blue in a 2 wood which I love, but honestly its very similar to the Black RDX or the Smoke, both of which I also liked.

You might try a little lead tape on the head to change the feel of the shaft if you aren't loving it right now. I find that often will yield a more decisive change than just switching profiles.

Got to the course today and took the TSI2 18 degree out for a spin with the RDX black.  it is a phenomenal club and the shaft performed quite well.  It is a little left bias but I am ok with that.  I am at a crossroads because I am not a heavy loader and my tempo is not quick but the shaft still seems to perform for me.   I think I will see how it does with a tour spec Atmos blue to see if there is any big difference.

I just got the Rdx black in a tour edge hybrid and like the way it feels and performs.

Its a great shaft.   To be honest, its my first Hzrdus shaft.  It is VERY stable.  I was maybe a little surprised to see I could potentially play it.

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
