Hi, it has been a while since i have been to this forum so forgive me if I am not posting in the correct spot.  Ok I have searched for an answer to a question I have to no end. I am hoping there are some golfers out there that can help me out. I would like to know just how  much bigger are the Heads/Face of the Titleist 714 AP1 is compared to the 714 AP2? For example is like going from a compact players iron to (excuse the dated terms) Mid-size or is like going from a blade to (heres a throwback for some of you) Tommy Armour Ti 100 irons which are the size of the front grill off a Peterbilt. Just asking as I am sure there are some golfers out there that have had both clubs in hand at the same time.  Thank you in advance for any and all info and help.

I don’t have the 714 AP2 currently, my son has them. But I do have 712 AP2 and 716 AP1 6 irons. The AP1 head is about 1/8” longer at the top. A quick measurement was 3 3/4”. The AP2 measures 3 5/8”. If you go to Ralph Maltby’s site, he has more details on the club heads. Maltby Titleist . The C dimension is a centerline width measurement.

You resold a set of irons introduced in 2013 in the early 2000s after buying then used and using them for years?

I bought a set of titleliests in the 90's ''714'' caught my eye here on the forum and I thought it was memory from reading ;;714''.....but I am once again misleading the readers here in this forum, this time from a time over 20 years ago, my apologies.

I'm pretty sure these were the irons I bought

not 714's which I mistaken this thread for

Yeah… 714 means they were the 2014 irons (often released late in the prior year).

@boogielicious

Thank you for the info going by what you have posted it doesn't like there is really that much difference in size. I just purchased this set basically got them on what I think is a really good price  ($265) for 3-PW which you don't see sets with the full line up like that anymore. also they have TT DG Tour Issue S400 shafts in them.

The AP2s? $265 is a great price. My son enjoys them now.

That is dry erase marker, not a shank!

Having hit a few shanks in my life. I believe it is green marker from a ball hit with a near shank hit.
 For the record all my ball marks are a black line (on a seam if possible) placed ground to sky. away from the club face.

    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
    • I had an interesting one yesterday, a local qualifier for the US Senior Open, at the Cascades Course at the Homestead.  Well, first things first, the VSGA arrnged for the officials to play the Cascades on Monday at the players' practice round rate.  Its lots of fun, rather old-style (built in the 1920s).  anyway, a player missed a short putt, and (apparently embarrassed) took a step to be ready to tap the ball back in.  The ball lipped out, and hit the player's foot.  I was nearby, and they waved me over, and asked "What do we do now?"  I was pretty sure of the ruling, but asked them to wait for a few seconds while i double-checked.  I did have it correct, even though its one of the more confusing rules in the book right now.  I'll leave the correct answer out for now, in case anyone wants to guess, or research it, and post their ruling.
