I have shoulder impingement (No tears as far as we can tell.  Might get XRay to confirm and have appointments coming up the next couple weeks for physio, massage, dr just to get me back in the game.  In the meantime and so I don't have to stop playing I am looking for a shoulder brace that I can use to support my shoulder.  Any recommendations of one you've used that still allows for a full turn would be great.

I don't think I can help you out, but I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder.

I think that would be a great question for your physician.

No brace for that. Assuming you have correct diagnosis, treatment consists primarily of NSAIDs, +\- injection, with physical therapy.  Bracing won’t help.

I am not a doctor. I'm assuming you have seen one.

However, I too, have a shoulder impingement and have had it for a long time. Mine has been kept at bay with physical therapy and regular stretching. My doctor initially gave me some pain killers for it and suggested that I don't use the pain killers "unless really necessary". I only used them once and that was several years ago. I no longer have them around the house.

Again, I'm not a doctor, but mine was able to be back to pretty close normal at least usable for golf and stuff within a very short time. It was a while ago, but as I recall it was as soon as the swelling went down. For me the whole process was sped up dramatically by icing it regularly. (Get a shoulder icing thingie. Way easier than trying to hold ice on your shoulder for 20 minutes at a time.) Now-a-days, it just takes regular stretching on my part to keep it at bay.

From what my doctor told me, it sounds like shoulder impingement is very common. It is especially common for those who hunch over a computer keyboard all day. As I understand it an impingement is also relatively reversible. The key being as long as you don't do too much damage to the shoulder before fixing it.

I could suggest the stretches I do for mine. But again, I am not your doctor. Just know that shoulder impingement can be relieved and often reversed, sometimes quite quickly.

Lastly, I don't know of any braces that can be worn during golf. They do have braces which can be worn during the day to relieve the impingement. Some of those work really well. I have one. It works great, and is actually very comfortable. Many are designed to pull your shoulder back where they belong to relieve the pinching on the nerve. Some will "train" your body to put the shoulder in proper alignment to relieve the pinching. Some are designed to do both. Again, talk to your doctor about which one is right for you.

Good luck, man. I'm sure you can get through this. Just don't "wait around and hope it goes away."

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • Day 19: worked with foam balls for a while. Going slow to make sure I’m rolling and twisting. It feels weird, which is good. Going to take more work, but I’m on the way I think.
    • Day 39 (16 Apr 26) - Back to easy swings as the lead foot was overly tender from yesterday - stuck to some easy pitches with wedges and a few 1/2 tempo swings with 6i.  Was good to slow down and work on setup and overall alignment…
    • I saved the ball and wrote the details -- "my first eagle," course, hole number, and date on it.  Maybe I should write the yardage and the club too.
    • Day 8, April 16.  Continued pelvis turn drills after work today;  I've already spent 20 minutes doing this, am taking a short break (and have fulfilled the challenge for the day) and then I'm back to it.
    • Played 9 holes tonight. Driver is hit or miss, but I haven’t practiced that at all. It was a struggle to get sequencing down for the arms and lower body. I definitely have to do my downswing wrist piece a lot or I just push the crap out of the ball. Pitching needs some work. Chipping was good, chipped in twice. Putting was fine.  Shank Counter: 2
