Whitey Ford used his wedding ring to cut/nick the ball.

What kind of wedding ring did Whitey have?!  Raised diamonds, ruby encrusted?  I don't think your standard male gold band is going to mark up a baseball.

All you need is one sharp edge.

I think the real shame in all of this is that Bud Selig was actually voted in the Hall of Fame!

In 1998, everyone knew Sosa and Mcgwire were juicing but Bud Selig didn't make steroids illegal in baseball until 2002. If congress didn't get involved and Bud Selig had his way baseball may have never had a steroid policy. Then he stood up there all holier than though stating how he put a stop to steroids in baseball. Yeah, after turning a blind eye to it for close to a decade. Not only that but Bud Selig took over the United States most popular sport. By the time he was done with it, baseball became the United States 4th most popular sport. Behind the NFL, College Football and the NBA. For this Bud Selig was paid roughly 20 million per year. (Roughly twice what Roger Goodell and David Stern made. Two guys who actually GREW their sport.) During his tenure World Series ratings dropped from mid to upper teens to getting a 7 or an 8 in a "good" year. he was acting commissioner when the World Series was cancelled in 1994.

When Rob Manfred took over his first task was defined as "Rebuilding the fanbase". Why on Earth would the previous guy be a hall of famer if you have to rebuild the fanbase right after him? Not only would I argue Bud Selig isn't a Hall of Famer, but I would argue he may have been one of the worst (at least over-paid) commissioners in recent American Sports History.

    • Did they blue screen in that golf course? Something just seems off to me. At first, I thought it looked like a really good video game cut scene.  I think they look very hi definition, and the background looks less so.  The physics of the golf ball look off. You can see the golf ball just start to plummet out of the air right after he hits it.
    • I had the chance to play Southern Pines this weekend...it's REALLY good.  A solid 8/10.
    • Played Umstead with my brother again today.  I shot 40-42 for a solid 82. The front was consistent, four bogeys and five pars. A par on the par-5 ninth was a bit disappointing since I was on the fringe in two with about a 15-footer for eagle, but it is what it is. On the back I made two doubles on 15 (jail on approach shot) and 16 (drive hooked OB) but otherwise solid: five pars and two bogeys. So I was able to keep huge numbers off the card for the most part. It was a fun day. My brother also reached a milestone today: he went 46-43 for 89 and broke 90 for the first time! He only had one really bad hole (tripled 5), and a birdie on 10 jumpstarted him. It was fun to watch! I’m playing Hillandale with a buddy tomorrow morning, so stay tuned!
