I have been doing a drill where at address I have the club ahead of the ball. I have it at 10 o’clock position considering at address the ball is 12 o’clock. I start my swing from that position in my drills and it really gets the club into a great position and allows me to swing from inside. Is this legal to play this way?

There are no rules I can think of that prohibit this.

You’ve confirmed this with video? Not trying to rain on your parade, just keeping it real.

I'm guessing it's probably just helping the OP with a feeling of "flow"

Short of you hitting the ball on your way back, there is no restriction on where you start your swing from.

It seems ok providing you are not pressing anything down in front of your ball

When he's on the tee-box and he does happen to hit the ball on the back-swing though, wouldn't rules 6.2b(5) and 6.2b(6) come into play and he could re-tee without a penalty?

You don't even need 6.2b(6).
