Hi new guys here. I just started hitting some balls about 6-7months ago. Mostly at driving range or at home. I wanna improve myself especially consistently, but not sure where to start.
When I first started I paid for lesson (6 sections which not really gain much) then practice on my own from a bunch of YouTube. I don’t tie to copy the pro move just try to create what most comfortable for me at age of 54.

I also have problem when changing thing like grip, swing pattern then I become really suck for a week and back to my normal swing again.

Can anyone help newbie here?

Video of my practice

Looks pretty good for a newbie. Try to get a down the line view if you can.

Your grip looks palmy. You can read about it in this thread:

How about this one? I have limited space on this side of the house. If you need more wide angle, I’ll will shoot some video on the range next time. This video was 2 days ago when I tried to limited my early extensions.

That’s better. What are your misses like, hooks, slices, fats shots?

For grip, check out this post and thread.

It looks like you could probably move closer to the net to get a wider camera shot.

Mostly fat or thin. I’m fortunate? that most of my ball fly straight. One major problem though, probably 30-40% of my hit are “toe hit”.

The grip I tried them all. I started with cross finger, then baseball grip now overlap. I tried neutral grip but I lost a lot of power and my ball fight become hook. Strong grip is my most comfortable.

Nah that furthest I can setup with my 7-iron. I hit the top of the roof and spot light once already 😢

So what should I concentrate to get more consistency? My grip, swing path, hip rotation? I hate when my swings are one day good 3-4 days bad.😢😢😢

Golf is hard ™️ , but you’ve made a good start. Work on the grip and post pictures and video of you gripping the club. Use the thread above as a guide. It takes a while to dial in the grip so it’s automatic. But you can practice gripping the club anywhere, even watching TV.

As for what else to work on, the site owner created this great practice plan during the shutdown. Check it out below. For full swing, days 1-5 are a great start. Do the drills and post them in this thread so we can see your progress.

Your swing doesn’t really change day to day.

Because I don’t know what I am doing 😂😂😂. I watch too many YouTube instructions. I applied to my swing without knowing if it is good or bad to myself.

Here is video of today, just hitting a bunch of different clubs. I think I confused the most on 7-iron where as 4-6 my club face square but 7 seem a lot of close. Sometimes I feel I hit better with 5 iron than 7.

Your clubs all basically take the same swing.

Find your current swing, find your priority, and work on THAT alone. Slowly and with purpose.

And participate elsewhere on the forum too please.

I wonder how your ball flight is? That may give a good answer as to whether your grip is to strong or not, especially when your grip doesn't look too strong to me to begin with. I have to believe that everybody is slightly different with their grip, creating the shot they want to create.

Mostly straight related to where club face hit the ball. Went for a round of golf today, first time keeping score and got 115(double par limit, and a few of 2 strokes penalties from dropping).

Got to practice a few clubs before my friend arrived.

I’m scheduled to take trackman lesson next month. It will be 30 mins 4 section. I went for first evaluation (4 swings of 7-iron) and the guy show me video of what I need improvement. Turned out I did pretty bad than my usual and he only pointed out I sway quite a bit on back swing, didn’t mention anything about grip or my impact position. What do you guy think? Or what I need to improve at this point. BTW he show me data on trackman, in to out path, -4.8 AOA, 5700 spin rate, ball straight but a little bit to the right.
To me, I think I need to open hip more at impact and I think I sway too much on down swing. I tried to move my hip faster once the result was pretty good but I cannot control it or make it happen every time.

I don't think you sway "too much" on the downswing.

    • I did read the fine print tonight. It said replace with “similar features & function”.  8 yeas ago my purchase had features that today are available on the lower end models and the current version of my model has more “bells & whistles” than what I got 8 years ago.  So I am thinking they honored the agreement and I can’t argue the offer. since getting a credit for the full purchase price all I am really out over the past 8 years was the cost of the extended warranty, which was less than a low end  treadmill would have cost me. now the question is which model to replace with.  I’ll stay with Nordic Track or I forfeit the $1,463 credit so I will get Nordic Track.  And they honored the warranty and were not hard to work with which is a plus.
    • Generally speaking, extended warranties are a terrible deal and should almost always be avoided. They are a huge profit center for the companies that offer them, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about how much value most consumers get when purchasing them.  This is correct, and the old adage applies - only buy insurance when you can't afford the loss. This usually doesn't apply to most consumer goods.  To your second question, no I don't believe the offer is fair. They are replacing it, but it is not being replaced at "no cost to you". Since the amount being disputed (over $500) is non-trivial, I would probably push the issue. Don't waste your time on the phone with a customer service agent or a supervisor. They have probably given you all they have the authority to do. Rather, I would look at the terms of your agreement and specifically legal disputes. The odds are you probably agreed to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. The agreement will outline what steps need to be followed, but it will probably look something like this.  1. Mail the Nordic Track legal department outlining your dispute and indicate you are not satisfied with the resolution offered.  2. Open up a case with the AAA (American Arbitration Association), along with the required documentation. 3. Wait about 4-5 weeks for a case to be opened - at which point someone from Nordic Track's legal department will offer to give you the new model at no cost to you.  They certainly don't want to spend the time and energy to fight you over $500. 4. Enjoy your new Nordic Track at no cost to you. I recently entered binding arbitration against a fairly large and well known company that screwed me over and refused to make it right. In my demand letter, I made a pretty sizeable request that included compensation for my time and frustration. Once it hit their legal department, they cut me a check - no questions asked. It was far cheaper to settle with me than to send their legal team to defend them in the arbitration.
    • I never thought of looking at it on multiple purchases like you said.  Yes, the extended may help me on 1 or 2 items but not the other 5 or 6.
    • Day 84 - Forgot to post yesterday, but I did some more chipping/pitching.    Back/neck were feeling better today, so I did a much overdue Stack session.
