So i recently bought a set of Ping G10s. They're amazing and i love them, but i'm not too satisfied with them because of how forgiving they are. I really want to work my way up to playing with blades, and i believe that the forgiveness of the Ping G10s will not get me there. I bought them at Roger Dunn's so i have a 90 day return policy. Does anyone have any suggestions on game improvement irons that are around the same price as the G10s?

If I rember right the MPF on the ping G10s is around 805, If your not firmiliar with the MPF it stands for Maltby Playability Factor. It is a set of test performed on club heads to give them a number 850 and up is Ultra game improvment (most forgiving) 700 - 849 super game improvment 551-699 game improvment 400 - 550 conventional and it goes on from there to the harder to hit irons. I dont know anyting about your game but if you want to have the look of blades and a little more forgivness try the Maltby MMB they are a blade like muscle back, forged so they have that butter feel when you catch the sweet spot and the MPF is over 701 so they still pack a lot of forgivness. Now if your into having the wow of a big name brand you will have to look elsewere. However if you want performance and price this will get the job done. You can find a custom club maker and you should be able to get this set (depending on your shaft selection) spined and flowed lie fit and adjusted for I would guess around 600 bucks. The other option is if you know your needs (assuminmg you had the pings fitted) you can order right from golfworks.com 22 dollars a head plus the price of the shaft and the grip, add 10 bucks and they will build it to your specs. so for mabe 55 bucks a club or so you would have a set of forged Muscle backs that are top quality.

Just rember your clubs will not go as far becuase the lofts are a players loft, for example the PW is 47 degrees not the 45 or even 44 degrees you find in most GI clubs. wow that was long winded sorry

I would suggest you keep the g10s for some time until you really need to get more of a players iron. The g10s will make your game more enjoyable as well as your scores better.

There is nothing wrong with GI clubs, remember the masters champion just won with nike cast irons, including a 45 degree PW and a 3 hybrid.

If you really think they are hindering your game though, look at the i5 pings, I'm sure they are the same price. The i10s would be too much for you though.

Ya know what I think C is right I did not notice your hadi of 36 keep the g10s. get your handi down to around 20 or so and then mabe make a switch. Dont make this hard game any harder then it is when your starting out or you may just get frustrated and end up quiting the game.

with a 16 hcap a good set of cavity backs will be all you need, with minimal offset. I love the look at address of blades, but can't hit them as consistent as my 704cb's. A lot of pro's hit cb's...so you are not missing out. My next set will be Ping I5's or I 10's. my buddy has the I5's...sweet...

I personally love my irons, but you probably should stick with your pings. Or step up the ping line.

You could trade them in for i10s, or you could just use them but make yourself hit them well.

i really don't like how the Ping clubs are so light. I was thinking of maybe trading them in for Titleist AP1s, or maybe adding a little more money and getting the Mizuno MP-57s

Wouldn't it be great fun to take the loss on these (whether it be Ping or the shop itself.) Gawd...imagine working in retail.....as if it wasn't hard enough with ebay and everything....

They're amazing and you love them, but you want to unload them....... If ever I found a set of irons that were "amazing" I would want to keep them for more than 90 days, believe me, and I would be more than a little embarrassed taking them back. These clubs will take you as far as you want to go in the game. Enjoy them and their playability.

Little confused-first you say they are amazing and that you love them but they are too forgiving. Now you are finding other faults with them. I would just take a step back to clear your head before you buy something else that you decide you don't like. Maybe a round with a lot of greens hit will change your mind and a good swing lesson will help ease things.

Wilson's Ci6's are the best mid-handicapper irons out there. I played one round with them on vacation and was very surprised at how they performed. Excellent iron. Cheap, too...

My draw is your cut.

Be aware if you bought them at Golfsmith, I think they won't give you 100% back for them. They have a set amount that you get and you put towards a new set or whatever from the store. I could be wrong, but I think I read that somewhere.

1. The Golfsmith 90/90 Playability Guarantee is valid 90 days from the receipt date. The Receipt MUST be presented with the originally purchased item to obtain 90% in-store credit. 2. Clubs returned after the 90-day period and without the original receipt will be handled under the Trade-In Program. 3. The Golfsmith 90/90 Playability Guarantee is valid on NEW club purchases only (does not apply to pre-owned / used clubs). Boxed sets with woods and irons combined are excluded. 4. Clubs can only be exchanged for new clubs. No cash will be refunded. 5. Custom Club orders, including clubs that are built to non-standard specifications or clubs that are altered from the original manufacturer’s specifications, do not qualify. 6. Any clubs returned without components (such as weights, wrenches, etc.) do not qualify. 7. Clubs returned with excessive wear or permanent damage (e.g. pop-up marks, dings, chips, etc.) do not qualify. 8. The Golfsmith 90/90 Playability Guarantee may only be returned once in association with the original purchase. After which, returns will be handled under our Trade-In Program. 9. Golfsmith reserves the right to modify this program at any time without notification.
