The day I beat Walter Hagen ! Hagens Follly is a 145 yd par 3 over a ravine to an elevated green - legend says he was leading the PA championship & took a 8 on the hole & lost ! 70 years later it was my turn & I amazingly hit the green & made about a 30 ft putt for my first birdie - only the story makes it memorable ...

Hole in one! Playing at 140 yard 5 hole with rental clubs Pulled out 8 iron and it sail exactly how I wanted a bit of fade/push/slice to the right side of the green where the flagstick was The green was slightly elevated and we were able to see the ball suddenly disappear at it roll a bit on the green I never play this course before and wasn't going to get excited until I walked on the green cause I wasn't sure if the ball just disappeared cause it just roll off the green Anyway I ran up to the pin and saw my ball in the cup I was really elated. The only thing I did different was trying a vardon type grip where my pinkie was pressing over my left forefinger. I tried to play with that grip rest of round but no more hole in one. My left hand felt sore afterwards. Maybe I will switch from my interlock grip.
