Your Most Memorable Shot

Like the 50 pound trout we've all caught and fell off the hook, everybody has their most memorable golf shot. You know, the one we all bring up in casual conversation? LOL

Mine was about 3 years ago. A 110 yard shot from a fairway bunker on a windy day. The green was elevated and I could barely see the top of the flag. When I arrived and didn't at first see my ball, my buddy checked the cup and let out the biggest disbelieving laugh. Amazing.

Playing a Par 5 in a tournament with my Dad, Mom and a friend who was around a 40 handicap. They all tee off and I hammer a drive right down the middle. Since it is scramble format, I go for the green, over water in 2. Hit a 5 wood that bounces on the front of the green and hits the flagstick. Unfrotunately, it hit so hard that it bounced about 35 feet away but it was still cool to watch.

Scramble tournament, playing with the CFO and COO for our company as well as our IT guy. First hole is a par 5, we're 30 yards short of the green in two. The first two pitches don't even hit the green, COO hits on to about 30 feet, then I hit a nifty wedge shot and hole it out for eagle. Only time I've ever done something like that.

We birdied the second too, -3 through two holes.

Dogleg right par-4, before I was really comfortable with my driver. I hit a *nasty* slice, but the wind was at my back and picked up the ball somewhat, dropped it into the fairway about 100 yards from the hole. My slice ended up cutting off the dogleg.

Then I bladed a 9-Iron (my 100-yard shot) right over the green.

Then I chipped to about two feet.

Then I missed my par save.


What a par that would've been!

Well.... my most memorable golf shot wasn't mine. It was one a buddy took. We were playing 12-year old Juniors tournament. He was middle fairway, I was about 20 yards farther and on the right. green/pin was on the left.

I was standing maybe 10 yards in front but about 25 yards to the right. He completely shanked the ball and it drilled me in the rib cage. Hurt like Hell, learned my lesson

When I was twelve (about 16 years ago now... had a hiatus from golf, but picking it back up full time this year!), I teed off on a par 3, and no lie, it landed about 3 feet from the hole... the worst part: I two putted! terrible, just terrible... but man, that was a great shot! I thought my dad was going to pass out!

I have an eagle on a par 4 (shaky pitch that just managed to hit the pin and drop or it would have been off the green) and an ace, but the most memorable shot came in route to double-bogey.

I had sliced a drive off the tee and had trees blocking my approach to a par 4 on Robber's Roost in MB (which is now gone). For my second shot I had to aim all the way across the fairway and hit a cut. Well, my buddies were on the far side of the fairway as well, and must have thought I'd already played, because they started down the cartpath. I hit my cut, which didn't cut as early as I had hoped.

From my vantage point, I'm watching my buddies drive right into the path of my ball. Just as they go under/past the line of flight, the ball starts to cut. The ball lands behind them on the cart path ... not once, but twice, taking those big cart path bounces. My buds are looking around for the ball with looks of concern on their faces. Then it goes over the cart and bounces once in front of them before hopping off the path and settling into the rough in front of the green. If I had it on video, it would be worth some bucks. It looked like my buddies were trying to outrun a ball that seemed to be following them down the path.

It took me four to get down from about 30 feet off the green, because I couldn't stop laughing.

when i was a 12 handi i was playing a course, outside of dallas, for the first time... by myself.... it was the 17th hole a par 4 hard dogleg left... tee shot was up hill and i couldnt tell how much fairway i had.... i was a little frustrated by the round to this point and went ahead and hit driver....(by the way i was using my brothers clubs, SnakeEyes) there wasnt much fairway on the line i took (straight) and it went on through into some narly felled timber area...so i try the miracle hack out of it..it trickles into the fairway bunker some 20 yards in front of me... now i have 150 out of a bunker over water to a green thats some 30 feet below me... i hit it fatttttttttt.... trickles through the end of the fairway into the rough... now i have 95 yards into a slight head wind over water to a green thats... you get the point... so i take out the ZEVO 60* and put a mighty wack on it....pins on the front in the middle... one bounce and starts rolling....(the group on 18 is about 30 feet above the green and watching) and rolling ever so slowly.......CENTER CUP...to which we all start jumping and screaming.... they yell over hey was that for eagle....NO IT WAS FOR PAR....lol

when i was a 2 handicap (fairly recently) it was on the first hole par 4...topped the drive.....still had 200 left...shanked the 5 iron into the right rough behind some full grown pines....had 140 left over pines out of rough to a pin cut just behind a bunker....so i take out ye olde pw...( MIZUNO MP-32 PW ) and put a might whack on it.....i cant see it but it felt good.... so the guys i'm with say well how'd it end up... so i say... It's either one inch short... one inch long...or IN THE HOLE....it landed 1/32" past the hole and must have spun back in....but it was IN THE HOLE... there was a group walking from the 7the to the 8th which goes right behind the 1st that saw it and they said was that for EAGLE...no it was for BIRDIE....lol

when i was a 125 handicap we were on the 12th hole par 4... i couldnt hit woods so i teed off with a 3 iron everytime... topped the 3 iron into the left rough about 75-80 yards....still had a long way to go... pin was on the front right center...take the 3 iron and put a mighty whack on it.... John says what a great shot... i say yeah right probably going to slice and go out of bounds.... it landed 18 inches right of the pin and stopped dead (dulop golf ball, square two iron) one putt for MY FIRST BIRDIE EVER....then on the 17th...par 3 hit my 9 iron into the hospital that was beside the hole... reteed and hit it to an inch or two....lol... GREAT BOGEY...

My most memorable golf shot was my one and only hole in one. It wasn't the best struck shot, but it went in nonetheless... 135 yard par 3 after birding the opening par 5. Full swing nine iron...thin. Hits on the down slope of the bunker towards the green and rolls into the cup. Next up would be driving a 330 yard par four and making the fifteen foot putt. Finally would be a 407 yard drive to a severely downhill par four. I actually hit a neon green ball just so we could watch it fly It ended up 6 feet short of the pin.

Though I may have had "better" shots (including a shady hole in one), I find a shot from my first year of play my favorite.

I'd only been playing around 6 months and was taking some lessons at the time. We were given an opportunity to play some holes at the CC, and my friend and I eventually met up with a member and finished off with him.

The second hole teed off to a slight rise, and I asked for a target to hit to. that done I proceeded to hit the sweetest drive! The member was truly zonked. We measured it and it came out to about 298... dead nuts center of the fairway.... Six months of play - I'll take it!! Sort of like your first time... :)

My first eagle on a Par 4 came the day of my uncles wedding. We went out and played a round that morning. It was a short par 4 (290)and I pulled it just left of the green. I had a huge bunker between me and the green and almost no room to work with. I flopped my wedge and it landed on the fringe, bounced forward and rolled about 6 feet and into the cup.

Two years ago I was playing in my league and I pulled my tee shot just into waist deep heather. The ball was only about 1 foot into the stuff, but was sitting about 6" off the ground. I knew the likelyhood of me advancing it was 50/50 at best. I actually did the smart thing and declared it unplayable. Took my drop and proceeded to hole out from 93 yards with a gap wedge that I had just bought that week. It landed about 8 feet short, hopped once and rolled in. The best part was that play was backed up on the next tee, so both of the groups ahead of us were standing there watching. I also won $11 in skins on that one.

About four years ago I was on a pretty competitive golf league at a course called Pine Hills in Hinkley, OH. http://www.golfpinehills.net/ The greens there are like lightning and crusty.

We had a Big Skin game where everybody puts money in the pot and one hole is picked. The person with the lowest score wins the pot. Somebody picked the #3 hole which is a short dogleg right. About 300 yard. It's almost 90 degrees right where you hit a 5 iron to the fairway and a wedge to the green. You can cut it over the trees but dont be short and don't be long. Its on a steep tree covered hill.

This hole carried over for about 7 weeks and had about $650 in the pot. I got up on the tee knowing that the last week it carried over with two eagles so I had to go over the trees.

I hit a driver over the trees with a perfect little fade thinking its on the green. I get over there and its in the deepest rough possible. I blasted it 7 feet past the hole. Now I have a downhill left to right, fast as cement putt for birdie. Somehow, knees knocking, I made the putt catching the high side of the lip and falling in. I didn't think it would matter because somebody will birdie it. I was in the clubhouse for 2 hours after my round just amazed that all of these +2 handicap guys didn't birdie it.

I won the $650

My only Ace...Par 3 136 yards uphill so it plays a bit longer. I hit an 8 iron into about a 10 mph breeze and flew it straight into the cup. My best freind was there with me to witness it.
