It's been a long time coming but Darren Clarke has won again! He holed out from 30 feet + on the 18th hole in the BMW Asian Open in China. (though he did have a 2 shot lead with a few to play)

I'm delighted - I don't think many people in the golfing world will be unhappy with his return to the winners circuit (WGC 2003 was the last one).

He was fierce emotional on the 18th and in his interview - raw talent and a gentleman to boot.

Well done Darren. See you at the Ryder Cup.

I am really happy to see this; I was thinking about him during Masters week and how I hadn't heard his name in quite some time. I think he is really one of the good guys in pro golf. So nice to see him coming back from such adversity.

It was touch and go after bogey in 16 and 17. But a great finish!

That tee ball on 18 took nerves of steel! After watching Derksen hit the bunker.

It was really great to see. What's been missing is the confidence to close the deal - he's been playing rather well lately but I got the impression he didn't believe it - and small things got to him. Now he's closed it out - and waht a way to close it out! - I'm sure we'll see him challenging in big events again.

Congrats are definitely in order for Darren Clarke! This will hopefully be the win he needs to get back in the top 20 or 30 in the World Rankings. He has always been very talented, and I hope he continues to improve after this win.

One of the first non-US born players I found myself rooting for. His WGC-Match Play win over TW was stuff of legends, exciting to watch. One of the Ryder Cup staples I actually find myself pulling for (unless the Cup is on the line of course!).

Gotta love the cigar, the flashy/yet not entirely overboard clothing line, and his well known admiration for a pint or two after the round.

Watching the Irish open this morning and clark played a strong back nine,rooting for him all the way,but he makes a triple bogey on the 18th,has an outside chance of winning tomorrow.

thanks for that bruce - i missed it yesterday (was caddying in an inter club comp) and missed the highlights last night. Didn't realise he did that - a birdie would have got up right up there and playing with Westwood in the final round. Pity - though i reckon he'll be a sure bet for Captains pick at the Ryder Cup if he doesn't make it automatically.

      I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

      If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
