I need to find a 200 yd club. I am playing sTM speed blades right now and I like them due to trajectory. I get them up really high. But my 4 iron is 20* and flies185 in the air. My 3 wood averages 215. I am looking for a  club, preferably an iron , that will go 190-205 cuz I got a gap there. I got an old Adams idea 3 hybrid that if I swing like an iron, goes 185. If I swing it like  wood it will get to 200 but I lose accuracy. I would really like to replace the hybrid with an iron that will get me 10-15 more yds. is there a super hot 2/3 iron out there that  could get me there with more consistency ? That gap comes up usually every round or two.

I assume the 3 iron in your iron set would do the job.  If you don't have the club, you should be able to buy it as a single club

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)

  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Tour 900 golf ball

If you like Taylormade, they have produced GAPR clubs for several years now. They are not-quite-hybrids... but close. They come in Lo, Mid and Hi varieties which vary in how much they look like an iron. The Lo is almost a chunky iron. The Hi looks very hybrid-esque. The Mid is somewhere in between.

Since they've made them for a while now and come out with new variations on them every year, you can probably get a slightly used one at a pretty good deal. They change the color and tweak them here and there, but they aren't that much different. If money is no object go get fitted for one that gets you your 200 yards consistently.

If the GAPR doesn't work for you Taylormade UDI and DHY might be more your cup of tea. These are slightly more iron-y than the GAPR's.

Incidentally Ping also makes a similar product theirs is called a crossover.

Basically, all the big brands have something like this. Just search out Utility Irons and you should get plenty of options.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

speed blades don't have a 3iron that I know of. My 4 is already 20* . I love it as it is super straight. I went to golf Galaxy to try some hybrids and 2 iron my numbers and spin were bouncing all over the place. wasn't hitting good that day. I did hit the 4 ping 430 hybrid 215yds a  couple of times but never got consistency anywhere. It was all me mis hitting that day.The GAPR is something to think about and would like to try one sometime. in the meantime I had a 16* Adams Gold pro hybrid I was using. I took it out, choked up on it to hit it like an iron and hit it 185 into the wind and 230 with wind at my back. I am gonna ride with this awhile and see what I got. Looks promising from 1st outing.

I absolutely LOVE my new Titliest U505 3 iron.

It was slightly chunky looking at first, but I don't even notice it anymore after just a couple rounds with it.

It's super easy to launch it high and I have no issues flighting it down either.

Perfectly fine to hit off the tee for tighter tee shots and for 2nd shots into par 5s.

Even the mishits go much further than I think they should, it's quite forgiving.

A newer 3 iron might do it and was kinda hoping Golf galx would let me try new irons. They steered me to a hybrid but I was really trying to do it with an iron.  prolly gonna ride with the 16* Adams hybrid for the summer and see if it will work. 230 off the tee was Impressive(wind assisted but still).

    • Day 364: About an hour and a half practice session. Spent most of it at the range. Did a solid 30 minutes of work on my priority piece, with filming. I think it's improving, but will probably check in on Evolvr to make sure. Then spent the last ~20 minutes putting, working mostly on short putts.

    • Day 79 (19 July 25) - Band rehearsal this morning - got home midafternoon, opted to work more with the magnetic alignment tool with the wedges.  Used it to work on face position at the bottom of the swing arc - followed up with easy pitches up to 50yds.  Seeing better face control and over improved accuracy toward target…session was cut short with pop up rain showers.
    • This is a great discussion. Other parts of the course where there are houses have white stakes and signs. This keeps people from trespassing and hitting shots on their property. There is another county road on the east side of the course that does not have white stakes like the hole I described. I checked the score card and there is nothing to indicate these roadways are OB. I think a county drainage ditch would be considered government right-of-way so it is the peoples land 🤣. But you are in the power industry and know more about those sorts of things than me.
