I personally think that every event should be commentated by Jim Nantz. To me he is the classiest commentator of all. He is still accurate but, not as brutal as Johnny Miller.

Yeah, but he doesn't work for every network. That's kind of silly. IMO he's over-rated these days anyways. I actually don't think Johnny Miller is bad... sure he's a bit arrogant and dry but he really does know his stuff.

Haven't seen it but I'm not surprised. Back in the day, much like everyone else, I liked him quite a bit when he did SportsCenter. He really is a horrible announcer. I'm not even sure he knows anything about sports.

ESPN needs to stick to SportsCenter and never do golf again. They suck at televising it and Chris Berman sucks at commentating it.

Leave it to the real golf people at NBC.

I will say the quality of the picture looks a little better on my TV on ESPN than NBC but that's a moot point.

NBC HD LOOKS FANTASTIC.

Everytime I hear Chris Berman talking about golf I think of his HORRIBLE round at Pebble . . . you could see his plumber crack THROUGH his golf shirt. NOW THAT'S AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!

NBC still doesn't look as clear on my TV as ESPN does, maybe just my TV though? I'll still take golf on NBC anyday over ESPN. I have HD as well.

When I switched from ESPN (not HD) to NBC HD today, the difference was big. The picture was much sharper and you see much more gleam of the grass. You can see the skin melanoma on the older guys. . .

I believe the reason why the coverage was so spotty was some sort of agreement with the USGA and just which networks get to carry how many hours of coverage. By putting all the extra stuff in there ESPN could claim that they really weren't showing the tourny live - just highlights live - until their regularly alotted broadcast time.

There's the winner. Right on. It's called "U.S. Open Extra" for a reason. It's "extra."

My ESPN and NBC are both in HD. I'm watching on ESPN right now and it's still clearer than NBC on my TV.

I agree Tiger is hurting but I still think he will do better today and be in contention on Sunday.

      Jack didn't face 10 year olds. Tom Watson was runner up at the 2009 British Open. He did however face weaker competition overall.  I am not missing any point. I have read your thread. I never said Jack was better. Tiger was better at his peak.  Jack has a better record even adjusted for field strength. What you are missing is Jack was consistently better for approximately a decade longer.  You are completely ignoring the horrible stretch Tiger had.  The attached images are not because of field strength.  My reasoning is nothing like that and I have given you no reason to think that.

      @GolfSwami is making the same error of those who simply look at Snead’s total wins vs Tiger’s. You HAVE to acknowledge the criteria is grossly favored for Snead. If you apply the same criteria for Tiger ( which FFS is only fair) then Tiger has over 100 wins.  Instead, people just say, ‘ well that’s just the way it is.’ That’s nonsense. Same with saying Nicklaus won more majors and has more top tens. Yeah, but he was playing in profoundly weaker fields. Oh..well…so what ? Jack has more! WTF?

      @GolfSwami-If Jack played against 10yo kids as the other 140+ players in the field how many majors would he have won?-How many top tens would he have? You are missing the point-Despite others pointing you in the right direction several times. I played many PGA Tour events-A guy who cannot quite make it on the Korn Ferry Tour today is wayway way better than I ever was. Jack was great, but Tiger is miles better-You keep making statements with certainty but you have no certainty and you are ignoring the facts to arrive at your conclusions.
