The result, my very first broken club !

Happened on my 2nd shot on a Par 4. My ball landed right near a tree which meant my downswing was near the tree. I should have just chipped it out but I got clever and thought to myself "I can stop my follow through after contact". Well momentum got the better of me and I wrapped it round the tree !

Luckily my course has the same 6 iron (2nd hand) which I can buy for £20 so its not all bad.

Trying to be like Tiger, huh?

Wow, I never saw that before. I guess when your playing in the masters you do what you have to in order to make the shot. Swinging that club took some serious guts.

I almost broke my 8 iron golfing with lange, I was in a bunker with a lip that was cut so I had a little wall infront of me, I hit the wall on my follow through and heard a little crack. Didn't break it though.

I've never broken a club, but it reminds me of a time I tried to hit when it was up against a tree stump, I must have it it a little thin or heavy, not good contact, and the ball came STRAIGHT UP and hit me right in the forehead...it hurt so much. It sounds funny but I could've been knocked out.

haha, i cannot get enought of that, you know hes thinking, "club broke, damn. Whered the ball go? thats more important." i wish i had a sponsor who would give me 100 new irons if i asked. oh, and i just recently broke a club. Swinging a 4 iron, and right at impact the club snapped. right where the grip meets steel. a little too much torque. guess my idea that i needed stiffer shafts was right.

Lol, I nearly broke my 3 wood a couple of weeks ago. Was swinging it in the practice nets before I went out to play. Didnt realise how close I was to the metal frame, swung and heard a massive clang. Safe to say I didnt try my driver.

I've broken a couple. I was on the side of a steep hill and had a 6 iron back toward the top of the hill. I took a hrd swing and snapped the shaf in half after strin\king the ball.

I also broke my driver once, though not while swinging it. I hit a new spin milled wedge into the green and scuffed the hell out of a pretty new pro-v. I putted out, picked up my ball, and went to throw it over my cart into the desert. Well, I happened to hit my driver directly on the hosel around 40 yards away, without the head cover on it (I ALWAYS put the headcover on, not sure why I didn't this time), and heard a small *ting* as the head of my R7 TP hit the cart path. Thankfully Taylor Made fixed it for free and I got to continue using my $800 driver!

I snapped my gap wedge a month ago, first hole and hit my driver too long which landed in a dried up drain(hazard),i had a good lie there and 120 to the pin,hit it and there was a metal pipe under the grass which was lying over and snapped it at the hozel, ball landed on the green though,it was a shitty shaft so i just got it re-shafted.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a post that dropped so many "buzz words" at once. You're a 10 but spent $800 on a driver? You're a marketer's wet dream.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

TaylorMade r7 TP cost that much. Now let's get back on topic.

ive never broken a club me and my brother have this rule you play every shot as it lies exept if its endangering the club as long as its not closer to the hole or made any easier from a hazard or bad lie...... but my cousin broke my biggest big bertha twice the same way where the shaft meets the head. hits perfectly just breaks it i dont know why, and dident cost me anything callaway fixed it twice for free

    • First (12 holes) round in a year, maybe the third round in five years. After prioritizing family for a long time, I’m ready to play more golf. We moved back where I grew up and started playing golf. The course is close, but only six holes and pretty short, so the longest club I bring is a 4i. It is very undulated, with a lot of elevation changes and 4/6 greens are blind shots. The long game was relatively good (relative to my game and swing). Got things to work on, but the current state is manageable. One OB. Wedges and short game was atrocious. Chunking like I was making a garden. On the worst hole I chunked a 58° approach, then chunked three chips in a row… Time to search up some chipping topics and start practicing. I’ll take this over bad long game and good short game. The short game is easier to fix. Shot a net +17(!), gross +23, over 12 holes.

    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
