Were there times the chips didn't finish rolling? I missed that, but I figured since they had to do it in two shots was why they didn't have to finish putting out. Totally missed them picking up the balls while still in motion.

It didn't happen in this episode. I was referring to the episode where they had to chip in. They apparently had a rule that a missed chip had to stop rolling before they could pick up the ball and throw it back to their partner. I figured if they got that picky about that rule, they would make a rule in this challenge that teams couldn't assist each other by pulling the flag. I also thought that might be why they put the flag back in after each attempt, because it was a rule of the game.

It wasn't that he stepped on the putting line; it was that he touched his own line with his putter. Sort of like tapping down spike marks in your own (or partner in a team event) putting line. If you were thinking about stepping on someone else's putting line (either to, or beyond the cup), that's not a rules violation, just bad etiquette.

What's really sad is if he had been fixing a divot on his putting line that would be acceptable. But instead he does something less invasive and gets penalized for it. Go figure.

I had high hopes for this show but it's sadly lacking. Big Break, as played as it is, is a much better show.

Well, they did a video review and made the ruling based on that. If it had been a tournament round without TV or a Marshall present who saw the incident, I doubt a competitor would call the penalty because then it's just a "my word vs. your word" situation. Personally, if it were me, I wouldn't have called the penalty if it was a situation where there were no 3rd party witnesses. Or, at most, I would politely say "It kinda looked like you touched your line there." If they said "no", that would be the end of it. But to answer your question directly, Peach could always argue the point. He could say "No, I pointed to the line with my club, but I never touched the green." I've never seen something like that actually happen, but I suspect that even if a Marshall was called in, no penalty would be called because the player accused of the conduct denied that he committed the infraction. Did anyone else notice when this was going on, Ashley started to say something and Ashleigh walked up and put her hand over Ashley's mouth to shut her up. You could just read Ashleigh's mind: shut up . . . this isn't our match and we don't want to be involved ... let them work it out on their own.

After that instance Raul and Jaemieka or whatever her name is are really getting on my nerves. They're starting to think they are much better than everyone and they should be the ones calling the shots. This is a competition don't try to win by calling some stupid rule. If it wasn't for that Peach and Jay would've kicked their butts. Also, I'm starting to like Jay more... not does he have a really good game, but he accepted the penalty and told Peach there was nothing they could do.

wow!! i think the show is awesome, i was yelling at the tv "he broke a rule, he can't do that" . i have no idea who would be my fave to win now. the a's have redeemed themselves nicely the last 2 weeks, i thought they were done. man, they have an awesome short game. i'm from texas but jay is just too full of himself & peach is too weak! i am rooting for "the boys" & "the a's". however, i believe charlotte is a winner, can she drag rob along with her!!??
the golf was pretty good last night. can't wait for next tuesday.

Quick little tidbit about how good the contestants are in real life (i.e., when there not rushing around on the show), as determined by their handicaps listed on GHIN.com:

Rob Campbell: 0.5. Makes sense - he has a good swing and a solid all around game.

Charlotte Campbell: 0.0. She's on the Duramed Futures tour, so no surprise here.

Raul Cendoya: +0.8 and +0.9 (has handicaps out of two different courses). My first impression here was, WTF? But, realize this: Raul has probably made more long putts than the rest of the competitors combined during the course of the show. Just last episode, he made a 15-footer (with an old putter, no less!) in the up-and-down challenge and an 18-footer for birdie to win their semifinal match. It still doesn't seem that he would be a plus handicap, but at least its plausible when considering his putting.

If the Golf Channel had let that infraction slide, they would never hear the end of it from the viewers, I've already had friends tell me that Peach is breaking that same rule by touching the ground in front of the ball before going behind it on

every putt... I'm not sure if that is breaking the rule, but Raul did the right thing by calling it out. In match play, it's a loss of hole- that's the way it goes. It's like making a buzzer beater in a basketball game after travelling... you can't do it. Jay knew that & I'm sure he would never want to win that way had Raul not called it & the audience tore them apart about it afterwards. Golf is not just about skill. It's about rules & "awareness" just like Jay said to Peach.

I do give Raul a sliver of credit for not playing out the hole, losing, and then crying foul. If he had won, it could've all just been let go and he would've looked like he took the high road. But like I said, it would've only been worse if he lost the hole and then called it. It was a gamble.
