Agreed football is a world game and Man Untd are the best, but lets be fair, the American Football players are all in pretty good shape, and don't sit down after every play.

Im my mind, standing still (not counting headbutting eachother and slapping eachother's bottoms

) in the middle of a game is tantamount to sitting down. Plus they're only on the field half of the time. the rest of the time its "the defence team" doing the playing. So, no I don't think *most* American footballers are in pretty good shape. They are strong, yes. But fit, no.

Soccer is awesome... ive been playing for a long time and i enjoy the art of the game. It is by far one of the herdest sports to be good at at the top level, by far... As far as the world cup goes USA will dominate hands down. If we can get out of our group you might as well hand us the cup Look for DeMarcus Beasley to come up huge! Go IU soccer, Go Barce, Go USA!

You needed an option for "I eat, sleep, watch, live, breathe, and die" soccer.

Going down the list of things I saw posted in this topic while reading through...

#1 - LA Galaxy sucks donkey... the fact that an Asian team (one of the largest soccer environments in the world right now) beat them is absolutely of no consequence at all. No one even cares dude.

#2 - All American soccer teams will continue to suck donkey until MLS realizes that if they want a truly competitive (as in worldly competitive) league, that not only do they need to abolish the salary cap (DP laws be damned, the cap is nonsensical), but they need to become part of a year-around league. Hell, why do you think Beckham isn't going to get a playing spot in Europe's friendly this week? He's unfit (not to mention he is no where near one of the best mid-fielders in Europe, so doesn't deserve a spot anyways).

#3 - Chelsea owns you Utd. boys... don't you forget it! I still get sad when I think about Marino though Don't forget, your boys lost to Bolton and West Ham. And yes, I know Utd. beat Chelsea in our last game back in September, but at least we don't lose to teams with relegation worries... hah. (OK, at least West Ham has 30pts now).

I just realized how much I've been typing... see... this is what happens. Screw it... time to watch FanZone, I need a game now.

Yes and I believe it's by 4 points...

Rankings mean nothing until the end of the year, we'll see how it ends.

BTW, shouldn't you be a Celtic fan?

I would have to disagree with that, sure the lineman look like big oxes on the field. But you won't have a place in the NFL if you are not "fit", especially if you are a reciever, safety, corner, runningback/fullback, or a quarterback. All of these guys take a beating, and have to stay fit year round.

I played soccer in youth leagues for about 6-7 years and had a blast playing, and even refereed as a youth for a year also. Todays soccer players are in amazing shape. The bottom line is that in America, Soccer is not as popular as the NFL. You can look at the financal situation of each and see clearly which one stands out. I have found the general consensus in outside the states to be a little stronger on this issue, but most people in the States really don't care about which one is better and just watch football. Hope I didn't come off standoffish, I enjoy playing golf.

I have watched soccer numerous times and believe an equal number of people picked at random from the general population, made to drink 8 ounces of alcohol, then told the object of the game was to kick a ball into a net about the size of a Greyhound bus, could beat 99% of the teams that play "Soccer" about 99% of the time. It appears to require about the same level of skill, strategy and danger as "dodge ball".

An action packed game might have 10 shots toward the goal and one or two might actually go in. I prefer to watch paint dry.

The best part of Soccer are the flops (faking of injuries) and the prissy officials who show colored cards to players being penalized; how ridiculous! I honestly believe its the European equivalent of US professional wrestling.

You obviously dont know anything about soccer. That is the problem with us Americans. We think that for a game to be "fun" or "watchable" you need to score a zillion points. And this is simply not true. Soccer is an art. Soccer in my oppinion is the second hardest game to be good at behind golf. I bet that if you put your 99% of people against Peter Cech in a penalty kick, 98% of them get denied. And that 1% just got lucky..... just my 2cents......

And 75% of people think the same thing about golf that you do about football/soccer.

That it can be played by drunk people hitting a ball toward a flag and 99% of the time make it work. Just like you and soccer, people think golf takes no skill and the game is simply whacking a ball toward a hole. Go figure...

    • It's really hard to argue against the Tiger Woods 2000 swing.  I like Rory's swing. And, I've always liked Joaquin Niemann's swing. Although, if I tried to mimic Niemann's swing I'd probably end up in traction for 2 months. I was kinda bummed when he went to LIV cuz I almost never see it anymore.  At the other extreme, I can't look at Bryson when he plays. Even if it's very effective, it's coyote-ugly to watch.  I'd rather watch Charles Barkley than Bryson. ....
    • Thank you for that information,I would have loved to see him in person
    • I think he was always kind of like that - he hit it off the planet relatively frequently throughout his career. I saw him play a couple of times. One time at Walton Heath in the European Open. He was playing the 13th on the Old (dogleg right par 5) and his drive had gone through the fairway and found a patch of grass in the woods there to the left (the woods have now gone). He had an opening to play back to the fairway. Maybe 25 yards to reach the fairway and 65 yards to run through the other side. He was maybe 230 yards away from the green, but the trees made sure that was not a viable option (at least that's what I thought at the time). He pulled out a pretty long iron - probably a 3 and gave it a full blooded thrash. I watched this ball come out straight for about 40 yards and then it just turned hard left, but stayed in the air (still not sure how he did that). He started the ball at a point that must have been 100 yards right of the green and hooked it basically that whole 100 yards and the ball wound up on the front of the green.  Shotmaking he was pretty much peerless. Not sure his swing was ever technically solid. Flowing and fun to watch yes, but not one you'd want to copy.  As to the question, I have heard a few people suggest that Mickey Wright had the best swing ever. Frank Nobilo had a pretty sweet looking one. Bruce Lietzke's was pretty cool - he managed to maintain PGA Tour playing rights with basically little to no work on his game - got to be a lot said for that.
    • A lot of us on this forum are hyper competitive, we just know not to break things that don't belong to us! that is why I stated "a person with a poor attitude grows up with no consequences" it is not all entitlement.
    • Yea, it is a cult following. Especially with the YouTube golf personalities using them. They did great marketing in a space that not many other golf clubs are getting into yet. Especially for putters.  I tried them out at Golf Galaxy before; I can't stand them look of them.
