New Mizuno MP-52 and MP-62 Irons Preview

I read an article somewhere saying that they'll be priced the same with the current MSRP for MP lines. Is it $849 or $899?

Yes, they are really nice and it was cool seeing them first hand from Mizuno. I think that it would be better to blend the 52s and the 57s. He told me they have the same top so that when you blend them you see no differences at address. The 57s should be good 8-PW and the 52s 4-7 for more forgiveness in the low irons.

I just got the 52's and i don't think that you have to worry about blending the 57's with them as in the higher irons, they are more of a cavity back and extremely similar to the 57's (for the 8-pw). Mizuno does they blending for you on these....

Oh yeah that's what the mizuno rep said, thats pretty cool, but I still prefer the whole set to just be the clean cavity.

I was a Titleist guy for so long until I hit a set of Mizunos. They are seriously the best feeling and looking clubs out there.

I sold my set of Titleists and picked up MP-33's and now have a set of Mizuno wedges. The grain flow forged is the greatest feeling when hitting it pure. IMO, nothing comes close to the feel of Mizunos.

Nice choice, I have the MP-T in 53 and 58. Used to be a Vokey wedge guy, but i've changed allegiances haha.

Can someone please explain to me the difference between the mp57 and mp52? Are they both part of the 2009 line? I'm looking to upgrade my ping i3+ and i've taken a few trips to my local Roger Dunn's.... the 62's feel REAL nice but so do the 52's and have yet to try the 57's. Some imput would be appreciated... (sorry for the hijack)

Haha yeah I still have a vokey 56, but I definitely want an MP-T to go along with my Mizuno irons. I can't decide if I want a 51 degree or a 53 degree though. I'm leaning towards the 51.

The 52s are more forgiving than the 57's, more offset, bigger cavity. The 62's are less forgiving and are more blades than the MP-60's which are less forgiving than the 57s. So in order from most forgiving to least forgiving it goes as follows: MP-52's, MP-57's, MP-60's, MP-62s.

Thanks a lot man. I'm an intermediate golfer who'se just getting back into the game. Would you say the mp-52's would last for a long time? Also, are they a good long term investment towards getting better at golf? Meaning, when I get better at golf will the 57 or 62 suit me better? Thanks for all of your insight.

They look great, but the 62's fit my eye better, guess the bubbly edges look good to me.

Well to be honest I'm not exactly sure where you swing is at, but the 52's should be a great set of clubs that will last you a very long time, and will force you to get better and keep your game going when you do. You can't go wrong with Mizuno.

Cool man, thanks. The only problem is, is that the 52's are so pricey! I can get my hands on a set of 57's for about 350 bucks (used but in good condition) but the 52's are gonna cost more than double that! Even used! Would you say that even though the 57's are less forgiving, they are a good club for a beginner/intermediate that is consistently getting better?

I had the opportunity to hit both, today. I did not like the MP52, at all. It had no feel. It's a beautiful iron but $1000 for a set is ridiculous. IMHO, you can purchase the Bridgestone Pocket J36 for significantly less and receive the same type of playability.

I love the MP62. Really smooth, ball had good flight, good amount of forgiveness and feel. I compared it to the MP30, both for looks and playability. Not much of a difference. Both sets had the DG S300 with Lampkin Cord Grips. If you have the dough, by all means, spend it on the 62s. However, the 30s are just as good and about $700 less for a used set in really good condition.

Appearance wise, both beautiful clubs. However, only the 62s can really justify their price. If you don't like the TTDG shaft, find a place that will upgrade for free. I was quoted a $25 per shaft price increase if I upgraded to PXs. ($1300 for a set is steep)
