I have. Last weekend in the club championship we were playing quickly and caught up to the guys ahead of us, and on the 16th hole with is acount a 340 yard blind par 4 and i could see the flag go up and the guys get on there carts and take the path that cuts right and goes around trees till the 17th hole. Well I smoked my drive but i sliced it and went around the trees and i yelled fore, didnt know if anything happened and then we drove down by the green to look for our balls, and I found mine in a really odd place on the edge of the cart path but i was like whatever and i birdied the hole. Then as we finished the round and go back into the clubhouse and i see a huge native guy thats a regular yell BRADY YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS OWE ME A BEER. Turns out I hit him square in the back with a rope. Felt shitty but it was pretty funny.

"Don't drink and drive, don't even putt."

No, but my F-I-L got me about ten yrs ago. He has about 150 across a lake to an uphill green, and I am well to his right. You guessed it; he hits a severe hosel rocket and catches me right in the kneecap. I go down like a ton of bricks, and he and his friends are worried that I am really hurt. After a coupe of minutes, when they see I am not dying, he asked me if I knew where his ball went, since I was the last one to see it.... (It had ricocheted off my knee in to the lake.....)

I was playing with a group of friends about ten years ago, and after we had all hit our tee shots, one of the guys had set up and hit his 2nd shot. I drove my cart past him...said "Nice shot" (even though it was sarcastic since it went about 50 yards...we always joked and ribbed one another), and stopped about 25 yards past them to hit my 2nd shot. I got out of the cart...picked my club...starting to visualize the shot when almost simultaneously, I heard "FORE" and within a nano second a ball nailed me in the back of the heel. I dropped to the ground in excruciating pain for a good 15 minutes. He had hit a ground burner that thank God was extremely low. I would hate to think what would have happened if it was hit about 6 feet higher. I'd be dead. His reply was that he didn't see me. (even through the entire set-up process) I NEVER played golf with that idiot again. Even my friends that day never invited him back. The game is supposed to be fun...not life threatening.

I did it a couple of times:

1st it was about 2 years ago. I was playing in a national club championship, I hit my ball ob and said that I was gonna hit another one. One of my playing parters, after I said that, smartly started walking down the fairway. That guy even now is a disgrace for the game, and I ended up hiting the guy in the back fo his leg. After the round the guy comes to me fiercly ssaying "Do you realise that you hit me in the leg in the 14th hole?" I just asked him who had told him to go and walk down the fw the way he did after I said that I was gonna hit a second ball.

The second time I was in the trees with a friend that helped me locate my ball. He was waiting for me to hit my all in the fw to see where it would land. The ball hit a tree and ended up hitting the guy in the chest.

Never hit a guy with a golf club though. I do have a target for that purpose, but I'm hopping to never do that.

Plus, I've had a close call 2 months ago. The ball just touched my left year, and when I realized how lucky I was, I started playing very badly. The guy didn't even scream fore or nothing...

I have three interesting stories, all of which occurred during the same round:

1) One guy in our group hit a fairway wood with a cart about 10 yds in front of him but significantly right of his line. Swing, shank, and POW the ball drives right through the back of the cart, through where the driver's head would be, and smashes right though the windshield of the cart, leaving a small perfectly round hole.

2) I'm standing on the green of a par 3 waiting for the last member of our group to chip from the rough after his errant tee shot. This was the guy with far and away the best short game of the foursome. Anyway my back is to him, when I hear another guy yell my name. I started turning towards the guy who was chipping when his shot (which he sculled about 5'5" above the green surface, well right of his line, and plenty hot) hits me in the upper lip. Luckily it was a glancing blow, so it continued on and past the back of the green. If it had hit me square instead of skimming off me, I think I would have lost teeth.

3) I'm standing across the fairway from my cart, probably 45 yards from the cart. I hit my shot and it goes straight right OB. I didn't have another ball in my pocket, so I yell to my friend standing at the cart to go in my bag and throw me another ball. So he does, and only after it's in the air and I've got my hand up ready to catch it does it occur to me that my friend is a former minor league pitcher, and he had just thrown me a frozen rope from 45 yards. This thought doesn't finish crossing my mind soon enough, and I finish catching the ball overhand (so that my hand is actually moving forward instead of cushioning the impact in any way). I could barely hold a club for the last two holes of the round, and even after the severe bruising went away, there's a permanent lump where the fingers of my left hand meet my palm, where that ball and my hand made contact.

I had never seen anyone hit by a ball until yesterday. We had a free foursome to a local country club via our vice-president, so a couple of the guys from work went out. We were standing on the 17th tee box a couple had already hit and we were joking around then out of nowhere "BOOM". One of our sales guys gets hit right in the chest with a erant tee shot from the 16th tee box. There's probably about 250 yards from each of the tee box's. This shot dropped him to the ground and he's 6'7" 260lbs, pretty big guy. I thought we were going to have some kind of confrontation, but he calmed down by the time the guys came to get their balls. I think they were a little scared too. lol

I just remembered another rather harmless incident that occurred many years ago. I struck my tee shot, it hit the red tee marker (a rock), about 20 yards in front of me and ricocheted back and struck my playing partner, a high school buddy of mine, in the calf. I'll bet he never expected in a million years to get struck by my shot being as it was that he was standing a good 15 yards directly behind me....

I never hit anybody, but a buddy of mine hit a line drive with a 3 wood which was heading for a big pine tree on the corner of the adjacent fairway. Just as he hit his shot, a guy came walking around the tree (looking for his ball I guess). We were all shocked that this screamer was heading right at him, and instinctively we ALL yelled "LOOK OUT", and instinctively, HE LOOKED UP AT US, that's when the ball hit him SQUARE IN THE TEETH!!!

His glasses went down, his hands went up to his mouth, and blood went everywhere! His buddies ran up, stuck a towel in his face, threw him in a golf cart, and they were GONE!!!!!

This happened 15 years ago... shook us all pretty bad... Never saw the guy before, and never saw him again... Hope he is OK...

I got my cherry popped yesterday - two of my playing partners werent really solid - normally i ever stay behind these guys. This time he only had to chip over a bunker, but like so often they tend to do chipping with a full swing, but i figured there couldnt go wrong much - til i hear fore. I try to spot the ball, cant find it and take cover - and it hits me in the arm. Not much happend to me. But as its always with your first birdie/eagle/under 80 - you tend to repeat that. So the last two days i almost got hit 3 times (the worst was an akward drive from the driving range hitting just a couple feet behind me) - these 3 times were much more than i had to face the whole year so far.

I really hope this trend doesnt continue....
