"Charles Howell III - Pound for pound the longest hitter on tour"

Pound for pound means that per his weight, he hits the ball proportionally longer than anyone else.

Sure, Bubba and JB kill it, but Bubba is like what? 6'6"? 6'7"? He's huge, and weighs a lot, too. JB isn't that tall, but he's got some girth to him. However, I don't agree that Charles HIII is pound for pound the longest hitter on tour. Howell weighs 155lbs and his DD stat is 288.8 yards. One of my favorite players, Camilo Villegas, is a svelte 160lbs and is currently ranked 5th in DD at 306.7 yards.

J.B. Holmes : HEIGHT: 5-11, WEIGHT: 190 Bubba Watson : HEIGHT: 6-3, WEIGHT: 180 Charles Howell III : HEIGHT: 5-11, WEIGHT: 155 Why debate things like that when you can just look up the numbers?

Good point.

Ok: Camilo Villegas = (306.7 yards / 160 pounds) = 1.916875 yards per pound Bubba Watson = (320.1 yards / 180 pounds) = 1.778333 yards per pound JB Holmes = (313.1 yards / 190 pounds) = 1.647894 yards per pound Charles Howell III = (288.8 yards / 155 pounds) = 1.863225 yards per pound Looks like my prediction was right as far as these three guys go. Do I smell a The Numbers Game article? Dave if this interests you, I'd be glad to pitch in, I think this would make for an pretty good article.

Fred Couples- I just love his swing and he uses a belly putter like me.
Phil Mickelson- Great player, good swing, and everyone says I look like him. and my reply is: Why because he's chunky?
Ernie Els- Every swing he makes looks easy. Maybe that's why he's called the "Big Easy."
David Toms- One of the best wedge players of all times. Inside 100 yards there's nobody you want to hit the shot but David. Remember his wedge shot to put away Mickelson at the PGA Championship?

My favorite died... Payne Stewart

-Mickelson is in there... just the way he carries himself
-John Daly- Just because of who he is and what he has to offer for the sport of golf

My 4th is undecided...

Sorry no Tiger on that list sure he is great and all... and yes he is history in the making... but I don't like the way he carries himself

1. Tiger Woods because hes just incredible. Never stops working on his game
2. Adam Scott because I like his swing so much. just a matter of time until he wins a major.
3. John Daly because he is always himself on and off the golf course. He dosn't give a sh*t
4. Natalie Gulbis because shes talented, determined, and hot

1. Vijay Singh - I've always respected the way he's handled himself. All class. Extremely hard worker, dedicated and well respected on tour. This guy seems to be friends with everyone. Well, except maybe Tiger. He even seems to be pretty good pals with John Daly (so there may be a side to Vijay we haven't seen yet ) Also, from a fans perspective, we get to watch him all the time as he's out there almost every single week. Plus, he plays Cleveland

2. Brad Faxon - Sadly the days when I get to watch Brad on a regular basis seem to be over. He's a New Englander and I always thought of myself as a 10 handicap version of Brad , at least until I completely lost my putting stroke . He too seems to be very well respected on tour. I think I saw a Golf Digest article where he was voted #4 by his peers who they would want a lesson from. Being from New England he still shows up on local golf shows quite often and he seems like a genuine all around good guy too.

3. John Daly - I just can't help it. There's a lot wrong with the guy, he very well could be a world class jerk but he's flat out entertaining. Love him or hate him, he's as genuine as it gets. There are very few players on tour I will stop what I'm doing to make sure I watch an interview from them. John's one of them... I'm pretty sure you're not going to get an interview full of stock answers. It's refreshing.

4. David Toms - I've always admired who I thought were the better putters on tour and I like Toms game. He seems to be a classy guy (other than one or two "incidents", such as last year's Memorial) and he seems to just go about his business. I don't think he gets enough credit for being a tough competitor.

Davis Love III and Fred Couples are two guys I have also admired for a long, long time.

Of course this is my list today... I'm sure I probably forgot someone but when you can only name 4, it's tough.

in no specific order
TIGER WOODS : hes got all aspects of the game, mentally and physically. very charismatic competitor

KJ CHOI : my bias runs very deep here. I like his humble and hardworking style.

ANNIKKA SORENSTAM : similar to Tiger Woods. Would love to see her break some more LPGA records.

ADAM SCOTT : wish he would win more often, but he does score high often. also GO TITLEIST!

Luke Donald
Phil Mickelson

Tiger Woods: the standard bearer for the entire game today. Hate him or love him, you can't deny his absolute dedication, commitment to preserving the integrity of the game and masterful ability to handle pressure on and off the course like no other player of this era.

Se Ri Pak: Power!

Woody Austin: I swear I liked him long before his strong showing recently. I have been a fan of his since I was a standard bearer for his group in the Anheuser-Busch over five years ago. He had a family situation during his round and handled it so beautifully I became an instant fan.

My Club Pro: He has already helped me shave six strokes off my handicap in less than six months.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
