The real question is why someone would use Coca-cola when they are literally surrounded by more effective -- and less expensive -- rust-removing agents. You can buy various acids, including phosphoric, from Home Depot... and probably already have a few around your house.

So you are saying that you can purchase phosphoric acid for less than coke- we are talking about the soda not the powder, right?

Not sure - it's just from the article.

I just clean my clubs before they rust. I've honestly never had the problem.

I seem to recall many posts on this matter.

Try the "search" feature and I'll bet you'll see numerous tips.

Soaking them in Coke seems to be the way most have reported doing it.

Thanks, seems like soaking it in coke overnite is the way to go. After I do that would it look like the tour chrome finish or the black nickel finish?

It'll look like neither. If you wanted it to look like one of those you should have just bought that style.

And +1 for "use search" before you ask questions.

Just a dull, raw finish. If you want, I can put up a picture.

People not using the search just leads to 10 posts all asking the same questions.... which makes using the search more frustrating... see the snowball effect?

To your question, your "coked" vokey will be raw steel, which will rust unless you keep it dry, and maybe even add a little oil. I have the RTG finish on my Cleveland wedges, same idea, and they stay rust free as long as I wipe them down.

I may be wrong, but I thought that I read somwhere that they did some tests with a launch/spin monitor and they found that THE PRESENCE OF RUST ON THE WEDGE INCREASED THE AMOUNT THE BALL SPINS WITH THE SAME SWING

RUST = MORE SPIN??

Did you not at least browse through this thread before posting that? I believe I counted 3 times that people either asked or debunked this myth? http://thesandtrap.com/bag_drop/equipment_odds_and_ends On a side note, I've never heard the Coke trick. I'll give it a try on some old Cleveland 588's. Don't really use them anymore anyway.

To keep the rust away you should oil all of your clubfaces after you clean them and after every shot. I carry a can of wd40 as standard issue in my bag.

this ensures rust free clubs at all times...scoring using this method may vary and i play a lot of bump and runs.

just leave the rust there, it increases spin on shots anyways

im joking dont shoot me please.

I have used this method before and it worked pretty well. However since it removed the rust for me, I don't want to think what it does to my stomach when I drink Coke!

Is this legal? I have herd of using Vaseline on a driver to decrease the spin I wonder if wd40 would do the same thing and if it is legal?

    • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
