The are either refurbished, refinished or reused.

Refurbished doesn't sound promising. So is buying practice balls a good way to get Pro-V1's without the steep price, or is this a case of you get what you pay for?

at my handicap level i havent seen a dramatic improvement from using the pro v1. i asked my friend to let me use one of his the other day, especially around the greens, and noticed minimal improvement.

You can't expect to get the feeling of a new ball from playing with it a day. It takes time to get the feeling.

But if you play well enough with your ball, I see no point in changing. As I've said before, using the same ball all the time is better than using Pro V1 and Nike One when you find one and Topflite, Maxfli or something otherwise. At some point you'll be better off playing with just one type of ball. Makes you more reliable around and on the green.

I think that for a beginner a ball like a srixon ditance or soft feel are better as they generate less spin and I think that they also go further than the Pro V1 as well. as for whether you should buy them on ebay, I am not sure. Have a look on the Titleist website for notices on counterfeit goods as I think it has a few good pointers.

In the bag:

Nike SQ II 3 and 5 woods[IMG][/IMG]
Callaway X-forged 4-PW Dynamic Gold S300
Callaway X-Forged Wedge (52)Wilson Staff Tw5 56 and 60 degree wedgesNike BC-101 putter (33.5 inches)

Honestly, if you are a 36 handicap you don't really need to use the pro v1. If you don't have the skill to appreciate a softer ball like this (in terms of spin and compression) then you might be paying more than you need to on balls. If you really like the feel anyway, but you want to play a similar ball that is a bit cheaper, then I would reccomend the Srixon Z-URS or Z-URC.

I definately think it's worth the price. I always play good with Pro-V1's when I even try to play like an NXT or a Callaway HX Hot my approaches dont check nearly as much as the Pro-V1's or Tour i's.

Not in my opinion unless you're a pro :]

Otherwise there's tons of other golf balls out there for a MUCH cheaper price that you can live with and give very good results.

I had bought a sleeve to see what all the hype was about, and its the nicest feeling ball I've ever hit. However, I hate using them, my drivers are awful, I played one round with them, and I was forced to retire the driver that round and use a 3W. Un less your driver is perfectly consistant dont bother buying them, you might aswell throw money in the wind and watch it fly away.

I will never buy a ball that costs more than $30. There are a lot of great balls that are less than $30 i.e Bridgestone e6, e6+, e5, e5+. As you can see in my signature I'm hitting the Noodle Long & Soft, it's just what you prefer.

Why would this be the case?

Yeah this sounds right to me. Play them off the par 3s and the shorter par 4s where I can get away with an iron off the tee. I find this worth it because of the feel. However I dont use them at the long holes where the driver is a must as I may spray them especially if there is a wind.

Yeah I personally dont understand what all the hype is about on the ProV. Ive tried them a few times and cut them the first time I hit them with a iron. To soft for me. Ive been playing the Maxfli Fire Tour and the Callaway HX-Hot. So when I find a pro V I give it to a buddy of mine. I just dont like them.

i agree with moe the prov1s are a nice ball but there is way to much hype over them and i think its because beggeners only see the prov1 adverstising like the number one on tour and how do you mark your titeliest bull

Now that prov1s have dropped to 39.99 is anyone going to change their answer (its like $6/dozen or 50 cents/ball less).

    • Day 238: played 18. Back 9 was pretty good after a rough front 9. Then worked a bit after the round at the range, just firming up some feels.
    • Day 6 (15 Mar 25) - Played in local course’s 2man captain’s choice St Patrick’s Day tournament.  Great day of working closely with my teammate on course management process.
    • Certainly BUY used so many near new Drivers in Good condition that will suit ...which IMHO the shaft is the most important part if you want to buy new get a shaft new that suits you then find the head you like the feel off
    • I found being part of a Great Golf Club renewed my love for the game and comps ..previously at my other club I was just a player with novice player mates or solo .and that was hard to progress and drive the passion when my job was very restrictive to playing in good weather and friends couldn't play as much...  that become a grind at times and gave up the game for couple years..but now work for myself and have clear goals and new GC with serious players ongoing comps and great course I can pretty much always get on .. some great Golfing friends I made playing in the weekly comps ..I'm loving it..  Still get down on my game and can walk off gutted ..but thats the game we wouldn't love the good round if we never had bad rounds So for me maybe dropping the pressure of the HC grind and more so enjoy playing comps with others serious on the game ...understand the game is hard ,enjoy the good times and your game will develop ...
    • Big week of Golf nursing golfing elbow ....played local amazing course Arrowtown tuesday ..had a tidy 81 for what I felt wasn't my best Golf in some wet windy conditions found the greens tough to read and gave away many shots... three birdies Played my local GC wed STB mens comp... very rough whole game not happy 89 just felt tired made so many mistakes max 4-holes I played well the rest rubbish to woeful ... Friday played south of my local Alexandra in a 4ball with my mates (we have a comp same partners over the year) played pretty well after not even hitting my 3wood past the ladies tee on the 1st hole ...very slow greens to what I usually played so we made gimmes within 2ft ,,,, couple birdies .. Wasn't going play ..but wife wasn't stressed so joined into the SAT Medal comp ..teed off early .. had some brilliant holes and shots some of my best .. birdied 3x ..78 for the day gave me a 7th in SNR division. putting let me down had a 4x putt on 3rd hole PAR3 ... along with 6+ three putts ... what could have been  Now looking over the above I'm sure many thinking go sort ya putting ya idot .. but couple weeks previously I played three comps .. out of those three I only had one 3x putt my best 24 putts over a round  ... but my driver off the tee was rubbish ..
