They are great balls without a doubt.

If I were a single digit hcp, then yes....I'd most like game them or the Bridgestone 330s.

In the meantime, though, I can't speak highly enough about this ball....the Bridgestone E5+. I've been getting them for $22 a dozen and loving 'em.

i personally like the pro v's because i can be agressive with my wedge shots, and know that i am going to get backspin or check. i also like them because i find it easier to work the ball with the pro v.

Hit the green with a pro v1 and watch how it sits - you will then agree it is well worth the price (unless you consistently chip short).

I dont have a slice problem so those other issues never come up for me.

Well I personally do not think we need Pro-V1's on any greens, except for extremely fast hard ones. I use DT Carry's at the moment, and I play off a AGU 6 handicap.

its personal prefrence when you become an experienced player. Im an 8.3 right now, and i like to play agressive espically when around he greens, so the pro v1 works very well for me. dt carry does not offer enough spin in my opinion. As for the thread question, do not use pro v1's if your a high handicaper, its only going to show swing imperfections (hooks, slices) use a ball that has less spin, usually cheaper as well.

I agree with the above post. Also, this year I decided that what I heard about sticking with one brand and model made sense. In figuring that out I used a ball that was given to me autographed from a Futures tour player. Bridgestone 330-S. The way the ball is described seemed to work for me. Of course I lost it and regret it. The ball had a good soft feel, but didn't seem to check as well, or travel as far as the Pro V1. A feature that isn't commented on much about the Pro V1 espescially, is the durability. I usually try to use it 3 rounds with out much problem. Other balls I use one new per round. The price is softened when I get one of those rewards certificates from Dicks. For feel and distance the Bridgestone e6+ is a strong offering, very good for $25. I like it more then the NXT-Tour.

To me, I'm not at the level where I can notice a difference, but since I find/have so many Pro V1s, why not? If I had to buy a ball, I'd go with HX Hots. Great balls for a much more affordable price.
IMHO, a ball is a psychological difference.

I always play with Pro V1. I'm buying them in the hundreds from Ebay at a very good price, I get 100 for the price of 36 in my country. I'm not at a place in my game where the ball matters that much, but if I can play with a cheap ball, why not play with a used Pro V1 when it does not cost me more.

I feel the difference, on the long shots it doesn't matter much, but around and on the green I prefer using the same ball. I know exactly how the ball reacts to my shots, especially when putting I got the same feeling for every put, and I love the ball.

When (if) I reach scratch and below it will probably matter more, but I've already gotten used to the Pro V1, so I know it's a part of my game that is constant.

For me? No. Don't get me wrong, I like playing them. But for $45 per dozen I can't justify that. If I find 'em, I play 'em. Otherwise, I will buy NXT Tours at $29 per dozen which will fly far and I have no problem making them stop on a dime on the green. They are also relatively soft for good feel around the green. So as far as money is concerned, the PRO V's aren't worth it for me.

I'll echo the comments to make sure they're the right ball for your swing, regardless of whether they're "worth" the price. I played them, because they were gifts, but later had a swing analysis done and determined they weren't the best suited for my game.

went to the local PGA Superstore - measured swing speed, spin, etc. on the simulators (using your driver, I believe) and it produces a magical list of the top balls in each $$$ category.

For someone who is a high-handicapper, IMO the Pro-V1 really isnt worth spending the money on.
Unless you are a 15 handicap or lower, I dont think that your game is at a level where you will see much, if any benefit from a ball like the Pro V1.

I saw some Pro V1's marked 'practice' for $1.50. What exactly are these?

at my handicap level i havent seen a dramatic improvement from using the pro v1. i asked my friend to let me use one of his the other day, especially around the greens, and noticed minimal improvement.

but from my handicap you can tell my skill level isnt all that high.
