See no reason to lie... Driver - 245 3W - X 5W - 215 4H - 195 5H - 185 6H - 175 7i - 160 8i - 145+ 9i - 135+ PW - 125 AW - 115 SW - 100+ 58* - 90 61* - 75 64* - 60 I'm not spot on with those distances. I suffer from slightly heavy shots and perfect wrist releases that can widen the range of those values. But those are the distances I use when any of those clubs are in my bag.

You must have picked up a new set of clubs.  Looks like you've picked up a little distance over the old set.....

Here is my lineup for the upcoming season, all the gaps should be filled quite well. I love the hybrid, so much easier to hit!

6 Iron = 26*      = 150-170 yds

5 Iron = 23*      = 160-180 yds

4 Iron = 20*      = 170-190 yds (the 4 iron might be replaced with another utility club, like a chipper/putter, LW, etc, because I now am using the 4 hybrid)

4Hybrid = 22*   = 170-190 yds

5 Wood = 19*   = 180-200 yds

3 Wood = 15*   = 190-220 yds

I used to hit it further, but with taking lessons, I am trying to be a lot more consistent, I've sacrificed a little distance. My 7-iron used to go about 180 if I hit it straight, but that was a big "if."

I just bought the SW in the offseason, so I am just guessing on the distance right now. Will get a better idea once I get to use it.

Yes, it's April 1st a little early. You can't blame a person wishing spring was already here, especially after the winter we had. Yes, it's just a bunch of bs, and partly because I feel people sometimes inflate their distances. Just having a little fun. My drives are somewhere around 225.

With lessons, you will get your distance back, and more. :)

Yeah, I've gotten a little back. Right after I got lessons, my distance for my 7-iron dropped to about 120, but just by playing more and more, it has started to get farther. Hopefully by the end of this summer I will be back to where I was, but with more consistency and lower scores. ;)

With your handicap, usually problem is with the contact, or consistent contact.  Once you develop a solid swing, you will start hitting it in the middle more often and distance will come.

Yeah, I'm not trying to worry about the loss of distance at all. I'm just trying to get a consistent swing down. And I think my handicap has dropped some since then. Early in December, I played alternate ball with some coworkers and my ball striking was pretty dead on for the most part. Dropped a couple wedges within 2 feet of the hole which made me really excited.

just tweaked the loft and lie.

What loft adjustments did you make?  Gotten to play with it yet?  Hard to adjust?

I don't have the cash for a new set right now (or even a newer used set nicer than my current irons), and I love my 3i and also having a club between the 3w and 3i, so I don't want to add a wedge, but have too big a gap between PW (46˚) and SW (54˚).  Been thinking for a while about going in and getting my 3i and 4i bent 1˚ weaker and 5i-PW bent 2˚ weaker.  That would give me a little bigger gap between 2h and 3i and less gap between PW and SW.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
