It is increadably hard to hit, but when you hit it well it is one of the best feeling clubs out there. If I were you though I would probably just get the R7 Limited, it is baisicly a TP club, it has a sweet shaft, and an open club head.

I am considering the same club also, I am planning to bring my driver and choose a couple from the list below and hit them on the launch monitor and see what looks the best on paper then hit them on the driving range to finally decide.

its funny, because i agree with you about the r7 limited basically being a tp club, but according to rumors, taylormade is going to release an r7 imited tp within the next month.

i've hit the 909 d2 and personally i think it is a huge let down, and that the 907 d2 is way better. i also hit the new callaway ft-iq driver and thought it was awesome. I like the fact that it is soo straight, however im getting to the point where hitting fairways is not much of an issue, and am looking for something more workable. This is why i am considering the tour burner tp (i hate the closed faces of most drivers)

yeah it is a good club, but what do you think about the tour burner tp?

I like the whole TP line of drivers. I do not have the Burner TP but have hit it several times. I think its a good club. It doesn't quite have the workability that I liked about my superquad TP nor does it set up quite as nice.

I personally want a driver that has absolutely no draw bias at all, in fact I really prefer a driver with a fade bias. The Tour Burner TP did not quite fit the bill for this as well as my Superquad did. I would say its very neutral in its set up so if you don't fight any specific type of shot pattern it may be for you. Of course its not as forgiving as the non TP models but only slightly so. To get workability you have to give up forgiviness.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I got a TM Burner TP a month ago (Switching from R7 425 TP, both 9.5' with Fujikura Rombax 75g Stiff Shaft) and am LOVING IT.

Comparing to R7 425 TP, Burner TP is:

Pro: More Forgiveness, Higher Ball Flight, More distance
Con: Less Control (Less Workability), Too Long (std=46.5", I do choke down)

Golf: Agony & Love over 3 Generations

Yeah, I have heard that too. What more could they do to make it a TP club, the face is allready open and it allready comes with an ultra premium shaft.

I played last years model, then switched to this years. I like it a lot and hit a bunch of drivers before choosing it. If you have an issue with too much fade or slice...stay away as it will magnify those problems. I have a stock Fujikura 60 stiff shaft.

ny thoughts on differences from tour burner tp vs. 07 burner tp?? im interested in this because one is alot cheaper than the other, and i also know some one who has the tp burner 07, and prefers it.

I personally thought that the 07 burner tp had a bigger sweet spot than the Tour Burner tp. One other thing about the tour burner tp i noticed was that there is a night and day difference between the three stock shafts. The 65 gram diamana flew miles higher than the 75 gram rombax, and i didn't have the opportunity to hit the 55 gram Matrix.

I like the profile of the 08 version better, seems to set up more readily to my eye. Also, it seems to be a bit more forgiving than the 07.

    • Played in another US Open qualifier yesterday. Same story, sort of, as Phoenix Open pre-qualifying. I shot a +5, 75, with 5 birdies, a triple, and 7 bogies. Chipping and pitching sucks.  The course was Palouse Ridge. Very fun and interesting track. They played a couple shorter par 5s as 480-500yd par 4s. But as we say, par doesn’t mean much, still need to get lowest score possible. The wind protects this golf course. Length isn’t that bad with the firmness of fairways. Driver was ok, for most part. My plan for day was my fairway finding “bunt driver.” Basically hitting it low because of the wind. Normally it comes out as a cut. Throughout the round, it slowly went into a draw. My triple was from losing one left off the tee because I was set to cut it. After that, I played for the draw and it went well. Generally, throughout the day, I overestimated how much the wind would hurt when into the wind and cross the wind. So I went a little long on my approaches throughout. Chipping and pitching lost me at minimum 4 strokes. I worked hard on it, but I’m used to soft ground. The ground was firm here and I couldn’t play it confidently. I had 11/18 GIR. Two 3 putts hurt. Had two 2 putt birdies, one was a par 4. It really wasn’t bad. I just couldn’t get comfortable with my game the whole day. I had the moments, but then I got aimy and guidey. 2 things to sum it up, continue practice on short game and trust my normal shots versus trying to play stingers and punchers when the wind picks up.  Next big event, I think, is our Section PGA Championship in September, which is at a close-ish course I’m very familiar with. So I’m excited for that. Summer is dedicated to some practice but mostly teaching. I’ve had a very strong start to the year. I want to keep it going.
    • Had me laughing. That cameo's gotta be top 5 of all time. I'm glad lot of people stepping up to call him out. I'm not sure about wringing someone's neck but I get AO's sentiment.

    • Shove your left butt cheek behind your heel. There’s enough force pulling you toward the ball that you can pull back the other way to offset it.
    • I got an adjustment to my drill from Erik. I need to really move my hands down faster from the top, which will then require me to rotate faster to get to impact. I also need to get my left hip back farther, which has been a challenge.  I broke out the Butt Board 2000 to try and help the feel. It helps a bit. Drill. I’m trying to feel the left butt cheek go back and have a fast arm motion down. Swing with the BB 2000. A bit of improvement but I need to exaggerate more. Full swing sans BB 2000. Still a little EE. Work in progress.
