i was just wondering if ppl practice wayyy more than they actually play... play more... or balance the 2 evenly...

i tend to over practice... which for me doesnt always translate to the course...
before working at my local course... my money situation dictated that practicing more wouldnt break my bank as much as playing did... now that i basically dont have to pay to play or even to practice anymore... i tend to play wayyyy more than i practice besides the warmup before the round and to tell you the truth its helped my game tremendously cuz there are just some things on the course that you just cant practice for...

but i wanted to know what ppl's practice vs playing ratio is now and if it would be different if they could help it

I play enough during the season for that to count as much of my practice too. Never been much for banging balls on the range. When I do practice, it's usually short game stuff.

Playing at my course is my practice. The junior membership is only $150 I can pretty much go whenever I want. The only downside is the course is a piece of crap.

I usually practice once per week in the spring, summer, and fall. Over the summer, I try to play 3 times per week. So, I play way more than I practice.

If I try out for the golf team (and hopefully make it...knock on wood) then I'll probably end up practicing and playing the same number of times in the spring.

I should practice more....but I dread paying for range time/balls when I can pay the $2 trail fee and walk 18 holes at my home course and work things out on the course during a solo round....taking my time and tinkering with stuff.

I rarely practice. The closest to practice I get is a little 9 hole walking course that I can get on for about $7 which is about the price of a large bucket at the range. I generally hit multiple balls when I play there so I consider it a practice round. I drop balls off the green and practive chipping, etc.

I practice every day, but do not necessarily hit balls with a full swing. A lot of my practice is on rhythm where I do not hit balls; I just swing the club and a weighted club. Also, I spent a lot of time practicing all aspects of the short game--putting, chipping, sand blasts, and pitching. I practice different kinds of lies since in scratch tournaments, you have to play the ball as it lies.

I practice more, up until this winter. Now I just play. It is really the situation that I am in that dictates it. I love to practice. Just playing has hurt my short game believe it or not.

i voted for an even balance of the two. i love to play, and i love to practice and work on new things to help my game get better. i play a ton of practice rounds cuz i find thats the best way to work on things, more so than the driving range where its mostly ball striking/homeruns with the driver haha.i practice about 4times a week and play usually 3-5(practice before/after i play on occasion).

I practice all winter long, two or three times a week. Nothing to do but hit balls in a cold Canadian winter. During the summer I'll play 3-4 times a week and hit the range for 1/2 before the roun. I go and put in a good practice session once every two weeks or so.

Days when the round has gone and there is no recovery possible, I'll start experimenting/practicing with shots.

I hardly ever practice. I just go out there and start swinging. If no one is playing behind me I'll shoot a few shots from my spot. That about all I get for practice.

I practice more in the winter time. Where I'm at there are a lot of days that are border line temperatures in the winter. I go to the range more often now because the constant movement keeps me warmer. In fact, right now I am totally in practice mode. I can hit a driving range even in the high 30s, but riding in a cart and waiting on a tee box requires much warmer weather than that for me. You can now see me on the driving range with a cup of coffee.

When summer comes, it's very very hard for me to pass up playing for practicing. In the summer I can't imagine driving 20 mins to the course and not playing. I voted for playing and forget practicing; not because I don't value practice. Just because all things being equal weatherwise, I'd rather practice SCORING. I think that can only be done on the course.

I think it evens out for me. For a week or two over Christmas when my normal weekend playing partners had time off work I was playing almost every day and I felt that my game suffered a bit by not going to the range and working on things that were bothering me out on the course.

I play quite a few rounds by myself during the week which I kinda count as both playing and practicing, sometimes I'll just play one ball and shoot a score and other times I'll just hit the shots I want to practice and that can change from hole to hole. This week it's been range Monday, play Tuesday, range Wednesday, play Thursday, range, Friday and I'll be playing tomorrow, Sunday will either be range or staying home cause I'm too hung over.

I practice at least 30 minutes a day, mostly chipping and putting but I work on my full swing sometimes too.
I only play 1 or 2 rounds of golf a week. Id love to play more, but thats all I can afford.

I practice more than I play even though I play a lot. (80+ rounds) But I normally practice after I play and except in Nov-Feb I hit balls 6-7 times a week. Basically I am at the golf course every single day I just don't play every day.
