I don't blame the Yankees for their 'grooming' rules. I personally wouldn't want my employees looking like uncivilized cavemen.

I think guys with long hair look pretty silly, but I could care less if they do it. I can understand the PGA Tour wanting to keep a 'clean' image as well.. but most guys with long hair don't look that bad. Feminish and sissy perhaps.. but not normally scruffy and unshaven/dirty/dingy looking like Giambi & Damon have done in the past.

Most Fortune 500 companies have some sort of dress code. Why should the PGA be different? I don't have an issue with it. They're trying to project a certain image. NBA has a very strict dress code if you're sitting on the bench.

link? don't want to listen through the whole podcast, no offense..

1) The thing's got chapters. Select the "Appearance" one and quit when you're done. The entire show's 12 whopping minutes.

2) I provided a link to the show notes, which has a link to the story. Had you clicked it you'd have probably seen that...

I don't mind that The Tour's doing this. I don't mind that the Yankees are doing that either. I agree with Nyper. I don't think that the PGA Tour should allow long, greasy hair. It just hurts their image. I'm sure 99% of baseball fans hated Johnny Damon's long hair when he was with the Sox (the 1% being Red Sox Nation). But now he looks like a real ballplayer, instead of a 1st Century apostle.

Okay, let's leave baseball for now. What about Lord of the Rings? Viggo Mortensen was hot hot hot in that series - but when it was all over and he shaved and cut his hari - nada!

Seems to me that anyone who doesn't like the standards, could just as easily do something else for a living.......

.....as an example, the guys that mow my lawn get to dress pretty much however they like. There are plenty of other career options available to anyone who just can't stand it.

If only he could play like a real ballplayer then we'd be set haha. I have no problems with the PGA or the Yankees or any franchise/sport implementing this rule. These players are representing more than themselves and I'm surprised more teams/sports haven't adopted this rule.

i think its silly.

long hair doesnt bother me one bit and isn't going to stop me from watching the game..... i respect people's need to be different from everybody else.

heck.. id much rather watch people with different styles of dress and different hairdos than the same exact haircut and clothes...

My job requires that I have short hair and no facial hair beyond a mustache, it doesn't bother me, I knew going in that those were the requirements. That said, long hair and beards don't bother me either. The fact is that if the employer wants it and you want to be employed by said employer, you'll do it.

My feeling is that they can have short hair, medium hair, or long hair as long as it is neat in appearance. They should look, dress and act like proffesionals. Hair length does not effect on these requirements.

It doesn't really bother me either way. I hope the PGA considers that PGA fans like the different characters in the game. This has been proven in the past. If they start implementing dress code, they very well might eliminate some of the originals that play the game. It's bad enough that all their swings are starting to look the same, it will be even more difficult to distinguish between them.

That is the only good thing about the Yankees. They also have to wear long sleeves to cover the track marks from their B12 injections.

Maybe you just have a fetish for guys with long hair. I personally think that this is a good thing. I hate looking at baseball players and thinking that they are trying to save some money by not shaving. Half of them look like bums instead of athletes. The PGA tour golfers are role models to many children across the world, get your Sh** together and start looking like a real men. The Yankees have a locker room policy because they want to look professional, and while they are on the feild, they are at WORK. Do you see buisnessmen showing up to meetings wearing pj's? no, they look professional, just like any paid athlete should.
