40 year old eyes here....been using correction for reading for years....last year the eye doc added distance correction as well.

I'm just wondering how much a pain in the rear it'd be to wear them on the course.

I typically can't stand even fooling with sunglasses.

It gets so humid and hot around here....in about a month or so it will be aggravating wiping them off constantly.

Contacts are an option, I suppose, but yet another aggravation.

I use contacts when i play (cant stand glasses they put me off) if you use the daily contacts you wont even notice they are on, and if your carefull and wash and store them properly after a round you can wear them 2 or 3 times.

I have glasses that I am not required to wear but they help my distance vision and TV viewing. I cannot wear them on the course. It has something to do with my eye focus I guess. The style my glasses are, I would look at the ball without them, but as soon as I hit the ball, it takes a second to focus and I lose it. I am much better off not wearing them, getting the ballflight, and then going to that general direction. Luckily, once I hit the ball I have a pretty good idea of where it is going, I just can't see it land sometimes. Plus I sweat so much, that it would be a real pain to wear them.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I got a pair of presriction Oakleys made for me with polarized lenses to correct my severe astigmatism. I hate playing with my regular glasses as my eyes are very sensitive to light. The Oakleys have helped me see the ball down the fairway when I boom those 450 yard drives with the Hammer.

I wear glasses, also when I play golf and it doesn't bother me at all. Actually, I play better when I have them on. And I also find my ball easier
The only time I don't like wearing them is when it rains.

Why would you do this? They are not designed to be stored and reused, and its not like they are expensive - I pay less than £1 a day.

In my opinion, it is not worth risking your eyes and sight to save a small amount of money.

I am 51. I got my first pair of glasses in the second grade. I wore contacts for many years until my eyes could no longer tolerate them. I would be hesitant to recommend contacts while playing because of the possible interference of dust particles in windy conditions.

On the other hand, I needed bifocals for several years before I actually bought a pair. I was afraid of the adjustment period and I was certain I would not be able to play golf with them on. I was wrong on both counts. I wear them every time I play and even from the first, I had no trouble on the course; indeed, I could see the scorecard quite a bit better than before (albeit, that turned out not to be a benefit due to poor scoring).

My problem is this: I have a bad astigmatism. I cannot get wrap around sunglasses in my prescription because of this fact. I cannot stand regular sunglasses because I am so conscious of the difference in light in my peripheral vision. Yet, I know I really should wear some protection for my eyes. Does anyone know of wraparounds that are available with a correction for astigmatism?

I wear glasses, and have no problems playing with them on. I have contacts, too, but I am typically too lazy to put them in.

Ditto all that. I wear glasses and don't have a problem with 'em.

My distance vision is just bad enough that I can't see the ball very well when I hit longer clubs. Basically I can drive and golf w/o glasses, but prefer to wear them. We are pretty hot and steamy on certain days down here, and I sweat pretty good (especially if walking)... but I can usually still handle it. Yeah, sometimes I have to clean them once or twice a round, but overall it's not that big of a deal.

I absolutely cannot wear contacts for the fact that I can't put them in.

Do you know what your Rx is?

Oakley and Rudy Project both offer prescription wrap-arounds. Oakley's parameters might not be an option for you if your amount of astigmatism is too large (up to 2 diopters of correction), but Rudy Project offers an Rx clip that allows the correction to be inserted just behind the sunlens. Let me know if you have questions.

I wear my normal prescription eyewear, but with the transistion lenses (The ones that get darker when the sun is out and clear at night.) I think they are the best eyewear for the golf course.

Been having corrected lenses since high school here and really, playing w/ glasses on isn't so bad.... its more or less me not like wearing glasses while wearing a cap, which I usually do while golfing.....

so, I'll usually sport the contacts..... I have the day/night contacts that you can leave in and sleep in for 30+ days.....

love 'em....
