Worst I've run into was the groundskeeper on the 9th hole after I got out for an early start hosing down the green as I played the hole. He kept on hosing as I progressed toward him, finally wrapping up when I played my approach onto the green. When I got up, I found more of a pond than a green to play. It was really annoying because I probably had a half hour or more lead on the next group behind me, so waiting 10 minutes to do the hosing would have avoided inconveniencing anyone. Oh well. It's a pretty cheap course so I don't sweat it too much.

The course I'm playing now in Miami is the best. They are all very positive and will let us tee off on any of the four holes bordering the clubhouse, if time is a consideration.

The course workers used to give my mom orange golf balls that they found. They knew she loved them. On Monday they tossed about 8 golf balls on the tee near me, the ones they find while doing their jobs. Dozens of them get whacked by the mowers but the survivors are left for players.

The problem I remember was Pebble Beach, my one and only round there. I was 40 yards shy of #18 in two, about 3 weeks before the famous Watson/Nicklaus dual in '82. My dad and I teed off at about 6:30 AM. On #18 the mower guy parked behind me, no more than 10 feet, and wouldn't turn the darn engine off. We glared at each other and nothing budged. I couldn't believe it was happening on a venue like that. Luckily I flip wedged to about 6 feet and made it. Otherwise I'd curse that guy forever.

There's also a course I play in the Saratoga area during summer which is hit and miss. It's the only course I've ever seen with cart girls with attitudes. Some of the wisecracks I've heard, but wasn't supposed to hear, are incredible.

Most of the rangers are great guys but one of them stopped me occasionally and in a nasty tone said my mom needed to play faster. She couldn't walk very well in her final few years but loved to play golf. It only served to irritate her and when the guy stopped us it slowed us down in the first place.

They also have mowers at all points of the day. I remember being on the 18th tee, trying to finish a good round, with the guy mowing back and forth, smack in the middle of the fairway about 240 yards out. I couldn't believe he expected me to hit but he was waving for me to go ahead while he was mowing smack toward me.

The only bad thing that happend to me was a guy mowing the rough chopped my pro v in half, it took me forever to find the ball. I guess I should have hit it in the fairway. I didn't even complain because I love seeing grounds crew working on the course, I would prefer to tip them than the bag drop kid or club cleaning guy, they do more to enhance my experience than anyone else, except the cart girl. The only member of the grounds grew that makes me mad is that jerk that cuts the hole right on the ridge.

In regards to punctuation and spelling words out I usually don't have a problem with abbreviations, and strange grammar but I think if you start a thread you should take the time to write in a way that is easily understood by everyone quickly. It is selfish to write btween when you mean between when you start a thread, if the thread is read by 30 people and they all take 1/20th of a second to understand what you mean that is 1 1/2 wasted seconds. I can type one E in less time than that.

LOL...I used to mow greens and tee's but it was an top private course..so yes I would stay well out of sight and sit for 10 min.

I see. So you would type "tees" rather than "tee's" if you thought that this was important then?

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

It sound slike you need a new hobby. I complain less about my engineering classes, and those are actually stressful.
