So I took a needed vacation day yesterday to get out and play some golf (low 60's, breezy afternoon). My wife and I played 36 holes with these two rounds being two of the first three rounds of the posting season.

Anyway, I played like crap both rounds, but had an amazing putting round the second time around. I'm talking almost Tiger like!

23 putts over 18 holes .

One chip in, one putt from the fringe that I drained...and one three putt ! I only hit six greens in regulation, so that is probably the only reason it is so low. Now to get over to the range and work on hitting fairways and greens!!!

So...what is your lowest total of putts per round and how many greens did you hit?

underparnv

That's how I like my golf. A kick in the face. -Ben

My best is 25 but that had a lot of scrambling involved. My best round was 27 putts with 12 GIR's, and 12 fairwarys for a 69.

My average putts per round is 31 but just lately that has been a lot higher

Good God. 23 with a 3 putt is awfully low even hitting 6 greens!

No idea my lowest, certainly nothing like that. 27ish would be my guess and likely the result of a poor day hitting greens too.

21 with one chip in and (I think) no GIRs back in the 1980s.

My 9 holes record is 8 in a high school dual meet, and I shot 51.

something in the low 20's , I probably ended up shooting in the mid 70's though ;p

I shot a 37 with 10 putts at tulleymore last year with no chip ins or holing out from off the green. That was probably my lowest 9 hole total.

26 putts two times. Admittedly, I only hit 4 and 2 GIR in those rounds. I have several other rounds at 27 or 28, but haven't been able to get to 25 yet.

I'd gladly trade some putts for some more GIR, though.

In a tournament at my home course, I had 12 putts on the front and 14 on the back for 26. I think I had 8 GIRs. On the front alone I made at least four putts over 15. I felt like Tiger that day! Oh yea and I tied my personal best with a 78 and a T2 finish.

26 putts when I shot a 74.

I used to regularly have 12 or less for 9 holes when I was a 15 hdcp because I had to chip on almost every hole and I got pretty good at chipping!

    • Starting over - missed posting yesterday and it had been less than 28 days since last off day….today was tempo drill day.  Worked on takeaway and moving smoothly into weight shift.
    • I know it is probably dependent on a lot of factors, but how windy does it have to be out before you need to start guessing on how much it would influence the break of your putt?  When I played at Bandon, it was like 25-30 mph winds. The caddies talked about the wind negating break. The only time I had it visually influence my putt was on hole 18 at Bandon Dunes. My missed my putt on the high side of a pretty severe breaking putt. The slope around the hole was in the 2-3 degree range. As the ball was about to come to a stop, the wind gusted and pushed the ball half a rotation into the cup.  The rest of the week I thought it had no influence at all. I was thinking, is it just over thinking to try to account for the wind?
    • Day 310 - 2025-08-06 Went downtown in the late afternoon and got nearly two hours of work in. Not a ton of breaks. Was blasting the TS at the end, from a HomePod and two TVs. 😄
    • I watched this video of his last night: I don't hate him like @boogielicious apparently does and thought this was a pretty good premise so I gave it a shot.  Not the worst thing in the world and I especially liked the premise.  He's got a lot of air to fill by himself, which he isn't great at, but in doing so, you get some decent insight into how his brain works while setting up shots/putts.
    • So driver is longer than all the other clubs and gear effect plays a bigger part with driver than anything else. If you're hitting it out of the heel it could slice even if you have the face square. Could try some foot spray or impact tape and check that. Other thing is if the shaft is different in how it flexes or how flexible it is it could be affecting your swing somewhat. Driver also has the straightest face, so while with a 4 iron it might fade, with driver that can wind up being a slice with the same face angle at impact.
