Or at least what I would consider the closest to an orgasm on the range.

I've hit some shots pure, crist or whatever they call it a few times before, I could probably count them on one hand. Today however, I found the secret to these shots and hit so many I was totally amazed.

I finally found the "slot" everyone is talking about and the lag needed to hit the ball pure.
Words cannot describe how it felt hitting a 3 iron 180 meters on the range, with range balls, in heavy rain and wind. I even hit a couple of low stingers. Hitting a draw or fade was so much easier I couldn't believe it.

I've still got a long way to go to learn my muscles the move along with a couple of other things, but I've had yet another epiphany. These days make up for all the quadruple bogies on the course!

I was going to say the same thing.

Very often I feel like this game is 2 steps forward 1 step back... Or sometimes even 2 steps forward, 3 steps back, and then 3 forward again. For the last couple months I've had the good fortune of being able to play or hit balls on the range nearly everyday. Many times I've come up with a certain swing thought that works great, and it's like I'm on top of world. Then two days later that swing thought just stops working and I'm back to the drawing board. But it keeps the game interesting, and those pure shots keep us coming back. Tim

Ahh, I miss that one special day I once had on the range. It was amazing. Perfect summer night. Place had maybe 5-6 people at it. I never hit my driver so well, and I haven't hit it so well since. Who knows why. The only thing that I remember was that I was putting the ball in the middle of my stance, not off my left heel. I hit every single driver shot OUT of the range, which is 255 yards long. The guy next to me even stopped hitting balls to ask me questions about how to hit a driver. It was awesome. I was even using a rubber tee. I've never been able to recreate the kind of consistency I had that night, where basically every ball that I placed on the tee was sent into space.

Great string of philosophical little posts above.
Must have been something about today. Kind of shared your experience this afternoon, too. Which was a first time for me to get things that dialed.
(Not going to hold my breath.)

Hehe, maybe so, the difference is that I know it now, it's just a matter of repeating it. I went to the range with a single goal in my mind, I did the change in my swing and the results were unmistakable. Today it's a matter of doing the same over again.

In golf, having that situation where you go "WOW" is important. You can try for hours without getting there, but once you get there because of something you know you did different, that's when there's hope. Today I'll try to get it filmed also, so I don't forget it.

I know exactly how you feel, yesteday was one of the best days i have ever hit the ball. Every iron i hit had a nice draw and my driver i was hitting about 280 in the air dead straight. I never have hit my driver so perfect, I tend to slice with my driver, but yesterday was just amazing. I was listening to my ipod and let nothing bother me. I just drove the ball. It was a great day. So since i did well at the range, i decided hell i suck in the sand lets try that. I went and practice in the sand and everyball i hit flew out of the large bunker perfectly with a little backspin to slow it down. I was just laughing to myself, and i think it just really put my confidence up. It was awesome. Maybe i will be able to break 80 soon, im around 86 with bad drives and terrible chipping.

Yea I had the same feeling this past weekend as well. This guy next to me @ the range was just amazing. I asked him for a few pointers & after talking to him for a few minutes I find out he has been a pro for 9 years. In any event I've had a couple lessons in the past but for whatever reason whatever he told me in 5 minutes helpled me more than ever. I was hitting my 7 iron crisp w/ great trajectory and a slight draw about a 175 yards. Just felt amazing to strike the ball so well. Well I hope I can bottle that feeling up for next time out. Like some of the other post said one day its there and the next day its gone...lol

Haha, everyone seems to have the same idea here. Wish we could hold onto those times. If we could keep that feeling up, we'd all be playing on tour. Oh well, just gotta find the way. That's golf! One day, you've got everything figured it out, the next, some little thing messes up the whole swing and you gotta take it apart again. Keep hitting them pure!

Imtomtomim, how do you like your hybrid irons? I love my hybrid, but i do not know if i could do all hybrids, it would just feel and look weird. I was wondering your opinion though.

I have SO been there, done that.. Greatest feeling in the world. I had one instance where everything fell into place and I was pounding a 9I 150 yards.. Never been able to reproduce that since... I hope one day in the future....

Sigh... Golf is a frustrating/addicting game...

John Feinstein eloquently relates, the line that separates triumph from disappointment is incredibly fine. "One week you've discovered the secret to the game; the next week you never want to play it again".

I had one about a year ago. I went out to the range and and made one change. I took the angle out of my wrist at address which lifted the heel of the club off the ground a bit. Balls started rocketing off the club face. I hit so many good shots I actually got bored with it. I played golf the next day and it lasted through 13 holes and I lost it. What a bummer that was.

    • First (12 holes) round in a year, maybe the third round in five years. After prioritizing family for a long time, I’m ready to play more golf. We moved back where I grew up and started playing golf. The course is close, but only six holes and pretty short, so the longest club I bring is a 4i. It is very undulated, with a lot of elevation changes and 4/6 greens are blind shots. The long game was relatively good (relative to my game and swing). Got things to work on, but the current state is manageable. One OB. Wedges and short game was atrocious. Chunking like I was making a garden. On the worst hole I chunked a 58° approach, then chunked three chips in a row… Time to search up some chipping topics and start practicing. I’ll take this over bad long game and good short game. The short game is easier to fix. Shot a net +17(!), gross +23, over 12 holes.
    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
