looking at gettin the nike 460cc driver with eiter the pro combo irons or the callaway x-18 pro series or even the titleist 690 mb/ 680's

goin to keep the vokey but get a 56 degree also

an looking at getin the new scotty cameron red x putter

Irons: Mizuno MP-30's Stiff
Wedge's: Titleist Vokey oil can 52*:8 and 60*:12
Driver: Just broke my TM R510 and am useing a friends Nike 9.5* something right now.
3-wood: Callaway Steelhead plus
Putter: Old TM putter from the late 80's (whatever works)
Ball: Whatever's cheap or free. Believe it or not I like top flite's over pro v1's. Lately I have been playing tournaments with Ben Hogan Apex Tour's.

Thinking about replacing the gap wedge and getting a cleveland cg10 2 dot 50* gap wedge and a 1 dot 54* sand wedge since my ball flight is so high and just keep the 60* vokey. A new putter might be in order also.

"How do you like the Purple Ice?"

For me personally its absolutely AWESOME.Im 6'4 tall and swing relatively upright and didnt always truthfully catch my driver on the upswing, this was spelled out on various launch-monitors i used, showing a relatively high spinning, fairly low launch........

It was suggested to me that another degree of loft on my driver coupled with the Purple-Ice which has a very, very low flex point to really help it/me hit up through and release the head through impact would be the way to go.

My swing speed is about 116-118mph with my driver and ive gone from carrying it about 250 to more like 265,PLUS its getting a little run also.Probably those numbers dont sound much to you guys in the US but its to do with the weather over here and much denser air.I play a fair bit in Spain and have been to Florida a few times and it makes so much difference to those numbers in the warmer conditions.

I also tried one in my 3 wood after that and again, for me,a big improvement, much better launch and carry, from what i believe is one of the lowest flex points available in a quality golf shaft.Solid feeling, torque seems great.

If your looking for some help in achieving a higher and lower spinning launch i can thoroughly recommend it

As a 983K player I wanted to try out the 905. I hit a 905T two days ago. It was great. Has a different feel and sound than the K. I was sold until I hit the Ping G2. I couldn't believe how good I hit that club. I was practically giggling every time I hit the thing.

Try a bunch of different brands, shafts, lofts etc...

I just switched Drivers this year from an 8* Nike (275cc) to the Titleist 983K with a Grafaloy ProLite. It is the best club I have ever hit. The price was right too. I run a personal training club and one of my clients traded me the driver and a 58* Vokey Wedge for 6 personal training sessions ($300). I am getting a Scotty Cameron putter from the same guy on Monday. I love bartering. I'm 6'8" and 235, so my irons are all 2* upright and + 1". I went throught the Ping fitting system and they said that I should go to 4* Upright and +1 1/2 to 2". I hit the G2 Irons and loved them, so don't be suprised if my signature changes soon. Anyway, here it is:

Driver: Titleist 983K 9.5*
3 Wood: Titleist 975F 13.5*
Irons: 3-PW Top Flite Tour Oversized w/ stiff steel
Wedges: 52* Ram Tour Grind (pretty old) and 58* Vokey
Grips: Winn Midsize Wraps
Bag: Nike Stand (Blue and White)
Balls: Usually ProV1, DT SoLo or Noodles. I have been playing with the Callaway HX Tour for the last few rounds and I like it a lot. My wife's uncle is a barber and trades one of his customers 2 dozen balls for a haircut, so I have not paid for a ball in about 4 years. I can get pretty much anything I want for free.
Driver: 9.5° 905R Stiff Aldila NV 65

    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
