We-Ko-Pa is my favorite course in the PHX area. IMO, better than all the high priced Troons and TPCs etc.

Old Kinderhook-lake of the ozarks, MO

Played there yesterday, have to add it to my list. Very nice course.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Live in Cincinnati area and spend a lot of time in Naples, FL also. Saw PiKapp23's post earlier on some Cincinnati courses and hard to argue with any of those. One I'd definitely add is Shaker Run (original 18). One of my favorites is TPC Rivers Bend but it's private. But Stonelick Hills (which was mentioned earlier) definitely has a private club feel.

Also in the general vicinity, Lassing Pointe is nice (Northern Kentucky) and if you go all the way out to Grand Vic, drive a little further and play Belterra sometime (another casino course).

Naples area, definitely on the top of the list is Old Corkscrew (Nicklaus design), Tiburon and Heritage Bay. If you're a TPC member, an absolute must play is the new Treviso Bay. Got to play it at Christmas and it was fun watching the Champions Tour members fight it like I did when they played it in February!

I am a Cincinnatian (can you believe I am the third to post)

I agree about Beltarra. Great course.

In this area I like Blue Ash golf course and The Vineyard. Very tight, target oriented golf courses.

One of my favorites is Elks Run. It is a nice design and well maintained.

I also like Fox Run at Kenton County. A goofy 18 but a nice course.

Kapalua, HI. Aaaaaaahhhhhhh. Heaven on earth. I don't think any other course is as beautiful, unless maybe the other courses on the islands. Then when I hit the lottery I'll play them too. :)

Outside of Lexington, KY is another great course I play once or twice a year. Old Silo:

I agree with these two definitely. Great courses! Old Silo is one of my favorites. It's always in unbelievable shape and has some of the most picturesque holes I've ever played. Hidden Cove was really nice as well even though I stunk up the course the one time I played it. My other favorite golf spot is Myrtle Beach. Grande Dunes, Barefoot Resort courses, and the Big Cats are all great ones.

Hartford, CT area:

yes to all, wintonbury is my current favorite. pete dye designed it for the town of bloomfield,ct for $1.00- new course called oxford greens which i havent played.

then there is my old favorite (both of my record lows) lyman orchards in middlefield,ct- designed by gary player. rtj did their other 18 as well but the player course is the standout.

I've heard Bandon is truly insane. The developer wrote that he is most proud of the fact that people still show up to play in December, when it's cold as nuts.

I was there last in January. Granted, we had 65-70 degree days with no wind or rain, but I wasn't expecting that when the trip was planned. It just made for an even more amazing experience.

So, if top 5: Bandon Trails Pacific Dunes Bandon Dunes Bandon Crossings Wine Valley - Walla Walla, WA - Same designer as Bandon Crossings, only been open a couple months but an absolutely amazing course.

Favorite Muni:

Jeffersonville Golf Club in Norristown, PA http://www.westnorritontwp.org/golf.htm

The website doesn't do a great job of showing what the course has to offer, but this poor neglected Donald Ross design was scooped up by the township and poured some money into it to restore it to the original design. It's a joy to play. And $18 to walk as many holes as I can get in after work doesn't hurt my wallet too much either.

Favorite really nice course for an average price course:

Broad Run Golfer's Club in West Chester, PA http://www.broadrungc.com/

As challenging as almost any upscale private track in the area if played from the tips, especially if the wind blows. (I have to say almost because I only live a couple miles from Merion East and Aronimink.) $65 with a cart on a weekend morning isn't bad considering I'd pay $59 to play 2 of the most boring muni courses in my area at the same time.

Favorite scenic/vacation course:

Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club in Jackson Hole, WY http://www.jhgtc.com/

Just breathtaking. A close second is Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper, CA. I'd say Banff Springs, as it is just the most beautiful looking course you could imagine, but I've never played it as I wasn't going to shell out $220 to do so, I can't give it my vote.

    • Day 133 - Played 9 again. Driver was great, putting was better, but shots inside 100 were awful.
    • Day 36: 15 balls, same as last few days. Then a little indoor putting.
    • hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
    • Had to correct the distance - should have read 5,400 not 5,500  yds.
    • Had to report this one - played Minnesott again today with my son.  We played behind the Friday Men's group and had a decently paced round.  My round started off par-par-bogie.  I was feeling good to be +1 through three.  Played the next two par - par and then disaster hits - well I thought it may be the unravelling of +1 through five.  Tee shot on six is a hard pull hook into the ditch separating four and six.  I know the ball is lost and re-tee - hitting three off the tee on this par five.  Long story short - what should have been at worst a bogie became a triple 8.  Now I'm +4 through six holes.  Get a solid par on seven (which I celebrated as a solid recovery hole).  Eight is a birdie and I'm back to three over.  Nine, a par 3 over water, finishes par for a 39 front.   We roll to the back to where I birdie ten (the toughest hole on the back) to be -1 after the first hole on the back, +2 for the round.  Par eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen - that was an in the zone moment.  Have to note that fourteen - the second par 3 on the back - I hit the tee shot just short right of the flag.  Easy pitch with the 56 should put me close for a tap in par.  It does not happen - as I duff the pitch to about 3yds closer.  I reset and this time I nip it nicely only to see it land and slowly roll to the cup and drop in for a chip-in par save ( a first).   We get to sixteen and I am thinking this could be a really good round.  It's also a par 5 and I hit a solid tee shot.  I'm about 220 from the center of the green and figure I can layup with the 3w as there is a nice landing area in front of the green and it would play nicely into the typical distance I hit this club.  I'm sitting about 50 yds from the flag to the right hand side.  I overcook the 56 and see the ball bounce off the back of the turtle green.  I hit an easy 56 again to see the ball roll to the other side of the green.  Long story it became a 3putt double.  Now I am +4 through sixteen.  The last two holes are solid pars - one an up and down, the other a GIR two putt. Finished the back 1 over at 37.  Total score is a 76!  A new personal best.  Best "all around" play through the bag to date.
