I called the course this morning to ask them if they found my golf towel that I had left in the seat of the cart yesterday? She said, "yes, but you also left your TaylorMade clubs". I knew I didnt but I had to ask, "the whole bag?" she said yes. I told her it wasnt mine but had to wonder what kind of day was the guy having that would forget his whole bag of clubs and by the next day still hadnt called to ask about them.

My buddy purposely left his putter on the 18th green a few years ago with a note that said "Free to good home" after he had a bad putting day. Maybe this guy was doing the same.

You would be surprised how often this happens. Every year we have at least half a dozen full sets of clubs left at the course where I work. We have even have a few that the people never came looking for. We just wait a few months and then put them up for sale on the used club rack.

you know you are having a bad day when you show up to play and realize you forgot all your golf gear at the house... 45 minutes away. I personally have bought more than one pair of shoes at a golf course for just this reason

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

a week or two ago, I was having a bad beginning round. at about the 5th hole i finally kind of got things together but I pulled my wedge and hit the fringe..... and saw the ball bounce way high and run off.

when i got up to the hole, i realized it hit a sprinkler head. i found my ball 20-30 yards away and unplayable because it was sitting against the course posting that shows the information for the next hole.

at that point i realized that it was indeed a bad day.

Completely off topic (I apologize) but you realize you get a free drop from that post, right? It might not have been quite as bad a day as you thought.

I did that once! I thought I put them in the trunk and drove the cart back to the clubhouse. I guess I never looked back. I left them attached to the cart. When I opened my trunk the next day my heart sank. A quick call to the clubhouse and an hour's drive to the course had them safely back in my possession . The cart gu y said that they sat on the cart for hours. He finally put them inside. I tipped him $20! Amazingly not one thing was disturbed.

when your happy with a bogey. Your happy not to go o.b. more than twice. Your happy to hit 1 fairway per 9 holes.

Been there before. You feel like such a dick when you open your trunk and don't see any golf clubs in there!

I'm happy with bogey. I'm happy to not go o.b. more than twice. (Assuming I can find the ball) And I'm o.k. with 1 hit fairway per 9 holes. It's hard to tell the fairway from the rough this time of year.

You know your having a bad day when on the first hole of your districts tournament, where everyone there is watching, you hit an OB shot. Oh, but it doesn't end there. Its a really bad day when the watcher (person who looks for balls?), mixes up the "i dont know where i went" signal and the "its out of bounds" signal and you go all the way down there to find out your ball is out of bounds and go back. To end on a good note, top your provisional, oh did i mention this is still in front of everyone. I'm glad this was a huge and important tournament.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
