I agree. A bit tentative at the end but closing is never easy. I felt bad for him ast year's Players even though he hit too much club at 17. I like the guy. You don't hear him mentioned as much as Kim, Villegas, (I like these guys too) and others...but I expect a lot more wins from him.

O'Hair's back story is that his father pushed him into pro golf at a very early age; their relationship is so strained that Sean last talked to his dad in years.

This was a fun event. In Yahoo! Fantasy Golf, I had both O'Hair and Glover going, so it was fun to watch them battle it out. I couldn't lose!

You are right. He has redeemed himself, and will now be invited to next year's Masters, and is 3rd now in FedEx points. It is too bad that he three-putted the last green, but the speed of that first putt really fooled him. He is a nice guy, and proves that "nice guys do NOT finish last".

He beat a stellar field including Tiger and Phil (who charged back today with a 67!)

yea he played some really nice shots throughout the tournament and done really well to hold out a good round of Bubba Watson on the last day.

If I hit it right, it's a slice. If I hit it left, it's a hook. If I hit it straight, it's a miracle.

Sean O'Hair is one of my favourite players. I hate the way he plays so slowly, but the story with his father is absolutely horrendous. If you haven't read the detailed story, it will amaze you and break your heart because his father is truly about the most detestable creature I have ever heard of.

For O'Hair to have survived, let alone succeeded is a testament to his incredible inner strength. If ever there was an example of how NOT to parent, O'Hair's father is it. Here is a mild quotation: "I was in business 20-plus years, and I know how to make a profit. "You've got the same old thing -- it's material, labor and overhead. He's pretty good labor."

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

It certainly was a great win.....glad to see his wife and childeren there to celebrate it with him.

It is sweet justice after the Bay Hill tourney......he held on and made it....although he was making me nervous by not hitting the putting green sooner after signing his card.

Tiger certainly had his chances today but just couldn't get it done....Phil, also had a great run on Sunday. Sean has the satisfaction that he beat out the best players in the game and WON!!!!!

Well done, the 3-jack on 18 notwithstanding......especially after the melt-down at Bay Hill. I was glad to see him break through.

Yea have been watching him this year. A very good ball striker, if he can clean up his putting game a little bit he could be a dangerous player.

After the first round, SOME people were ready to concede the tournament to Tiger. Then, he failed to keep his lead, and showed once again, as he did in the Masters, that he is a great frontrunner, but not so good at coming from behind.

a little worried about how Sean closes out his final rounds...but I like him going into the Players. I think Sawgrass can suit his style of play quite well

I agree that you simply cannot be leaving yourself a 30 foot downhill putt for birdie on the 18th hole if you're trying to win a tournament, but those last three holes were so hard, everyone was "melting down" in the end.

That last green was designed so pros would three-putt it. Brutal stuff. All my favorite tournaments have a par-5 finishing hole where you can pull off an eagle and steal the event, but maybe that's just because Torrey Pines '08 was the coolest thing ever. It's definitely not as fun watching these guys roll up to the 17th tee and thinking "+1 golf over these last two holes is a great score."

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.
    • Day 315 - 2025-08-12 Got a little work in before Juniors showed up for one of their Summer Sessions.
    • I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
    • Do need a special ferrul. Thanx 😉
