Nice to see some big names playing on the Euro tour. JD another strong opening round 68. i have enjoyed watching the Euro tour this year on golf channel. Nice to see some links golf and i find there a more realistic or less commercial tour then PGA. I am supprised their arent more regular PGA players on the Euro Tour more often.

Heading up to this tomorrow - I've been to The Irish Open only once @ Druids Glen (when Sergio won, saw Daly there too) - can't wait to soak up the atmosphere.

The weather is typically Irish - soft - but hasn't stopped the fans so far. Great leaderboard - plenty of birdies. And an amateur (Shane Lowery 16th in the world) leading the Irish charge. This guy hits it as good as Rory thought doesn't look it.

I'll be following Harrington & Daly in the morning and Lowery, Monty & McIlroy in the afternoon.

Ah... you're lucky. I wish one day I can watch some of the best players at a good golf course.

Enjoy it! Cheers!

I too have really enjoyed the Golf Channel coverage of these European events. Wonderful to see in fact. I mostly tune in to see John Daly, but enjoy seeing the courses and other players as well. Hope JD can keep it up. Things are certainly on the upswing for him.

Maybe cos of the weather, not-so-perfect fairways / greens, prize-money isnt as good...

Overall - taking someone out of their comfort-zone.

I have to believe that more do not play because the purses here are higher, they are used to American golf courses, and the travel expenses.

Didn't get to see Daly & Harrington - was horrible weather & I was delayed. Was lovely in the afternoon - sun came out. Saw Lowery get 2 birdies, and Clarke, Monty, McIlroy, Olazabal all birdieing the 9th. As for the winner....an amateur winning on European tour again?! Yes! Briing it on Shane. Watching it again now!

I hope some of you find this on replay on the Golf Channel. This was the best finish I have seen in some time. An amatuer took it after three play off holes. Just a wonderful way to end. Awesome.

Agreed! What a great finish... I was rooting for Lowry, nice to see him get the victory... Rock played great considering he probably had 3-4 people cheering for him... It was fun to watch

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
