Hybrid - 7 Iron- Pitching or Gap wedge.

Hybrid or fairway wood, mid iron, and a wedge (somewhere between 52 and 58 degrees would be best).

Use the fairway wood for tee shots and long approach shots, the mid Iron for approach shots and bump and run, and the wedge for chipping and short approach shots.

Any of the clubs can be used for putting, although I would use the wedge personally (I can sink alot of putts with my 56*).

For me, 22° hybrid, 8I, GW. I can putt with the hybrid, I often play bunker shots with my GW, so I've got those areas covered. The rest is just guesswork and feel. Depending on the length of the course I could go with a 7I instead of the 8I.

I'm gonna pick 3 clubs from the guy above me (most recent poster).

22 degree hybrid, AP-2 8 iron, CG15-SW

You need to describe the course you are playing on and the tees you will be playing from. A fairway wood or hybrid would be needed to get some distance off the tee. A mid iron like a 6 or 7 would be useful but think about the length of the par 3's you will be playing from. A wedge that you will be comfortable chipping/pitching with. Pick the 3 clubs and play the course in your head to see if you will be lacking anywhere. You can lag putt with the wood/hybrid and shorter putts can be done with the blade of a wedge.

For me it's not even close

3 iron (putter/tee shots), 7 iron and a pitching wedge.

If you can get 200+ off the tee with it then use it as a makeshift putter, it's alot more valuable than having a wood or hybrid.

Is there a reason you couldn't putt with a hybrid or 3-wood? BTW - if your sig line is accurate, you don't even have a 3-iron in your bag right now, so why add one for a 3 club tourney?

Thanks fellas...the big question was always the Par 3's..think the 24* hybrid, 7 iron and 52* gap should do it. Appreciate the input.

If I had to do this, it would be 19* hybrid, 6 Iron, GW. I also practice lots of different shots with my 6 iron that would be very useful in that sort of situation.

My home course plays pretty long (for me anyway). I'd carry my hybrid 2I, 7I and 56d wedge. I can back off the hybrid or really step on it so it would help off the tee; also good for long putts. The 7I is a good, versatile mid iron. The 56d would help on our elevated greens and I practice putting with it.

That could actually be a very fun tournament.

i personally would take a 3 wood, 7 iron and pitching wedge, regardless of course length (unless it was an all par 3 course).

One recommendation - practice putting for a half hour or so with the hybrid before the round. It will pay dividends on the course. I've played in limited club tourneys before, and I've putted with a 5W and with a hybrid, and in both cases I've generally putted better than the guys I was playing with, even if they had their regular putters. It might take a slight modification of your stance, so a little practice can go a long way.

No idea, but I think I'd be a little better with a 3 iron than a hybrid.

Also, nope don't carry one. I'd probably use the 4 iron...or go find a nice old 1 iron.

Here is what works for me....3 iron, 7 iron, 52 degree.....

3 iron - good driving iron, great for putting, you can hit it anywhere from 210 to just 180 7 iron - play a hard draw to about 175, and hit it as short as 100 with a little punch 52 - great from 100 yards on in.... If you can, find out what tees you will be playing and get yardages....I'd say the 52 is always a good choice, but your other two clubs might be better determined with a good plan....on a longer course, you may want a 3 wood and a 6 iron......on a shorter course, you might want a 4 iron and an 8 iron.....whatever you choose, practice your putting, can make a huge difference....

I don't use a hybrid, but if I did, I'd want a 16-20* for my long club. Then a 6 or 7 and a wedge of some sort. From my existing sets, it would be a 1 or 2 iron, a 6 or 7, and my old Wilson JP pitching wedge. I might consider pulling my old 16* Taylor Raylor out of retirement for the long club.

Take your longest par four and figure out whats the highest lofted club you can use to get there in two. Next, take your longest par three and figure out what club you'd hit to get there. Lastly, pick a club that will get you to the green from 125 yards that you can also chip and putt with.
