I haven't been able to hit my 3 wood(Adams Tight Lies strong 3) since I stopped playing every day after college. I try it maybe once every 2 rounds for 1 shot. I top it every stinkin time! It is probably mental or I am swinging it too hard(there is a reason I need to hit the 3), I don't know. But for now it is out. Only the driver remains.

Anybody else only have one wood in their bag?

YES! Welcome to the club... every time i pull out my 4w I know i'm gonna hit the worst shot ever. I honestly kept it in my bag for a while just so i could use it around the green... but its out now.

I dont carry a 3w. Driver and 18* hybrid, I rarely could ever use a 3 wood, and normally when i could my hybrid does just fine.

I should get rid of my 17* hybrid. I only hit it on the range I haven't used it on the course in about 5 rounds. For a stretch of about 7 rounds when I couldn't hit my driver in the late fall last year I carried nothing but irons, that was a sick looking bag. My good scores were about the same but my bad scores were a lot closer to my good scores when using just irons than they are now.

no "woods" or "metals" here
just the big dog and a bunch of irons & wedges

i have always been able to hit my 3i + 4i though w/out issues

I change it up. I've recently gotten a couple of hybrids (18° and 21°) but I still carry a 2-iron with irons and driver sometimes

I usually just carry driver and a 2 and 3 hybrid. If I am playing in a scramble or something where there is a long par 5 I might throw the 3 wood in the bag but most of the time I can hit my 2H the same or better.

only time i use my 4 wood nowadays is off the tee on short par 4's.

it used to be my go-to club when i was younger.. off the fairway, off the tee, out of the light rough.. etc.

i just lost my ability to hit it off the fairway for some odd reason or another...

what 3 woods have you tried? I had a burner that I never caught on the course. Went and got fitted for a 909 F2 and it in use every round. Shaft in your 3 wood should be at least 20 grams heavier than your driver. Go get fitted!

Haven't tried any other 3 woods. Was thinking about trying out a 5 wood though. The shaft in my 3 is steel and the driver is a Fuji E360.

No 3 wood in my bag either. Driver, 5 wood and 7 wood for me. The long par 5's are three shots for me anyway since I'm not the longest hitter out there. I just knock it to within 100 yards with the 5 wood and let my wedges do the rest!

If you are topping the fairway wood the bottom of the arc is behind the ball. try a forward press before you hit the club. check the position of the ball and perhaps play the ball a bit further back in your stance. Make a compact swing and do not sway on your backswing.

A friend once said do not be afraid of any club in your bag. A strong 3 wood is either 13 or 14 degrees, a 7 wood or 5 wood or even a 15 degree 3 wood might be easier for you to hit from the fairway.

One drill that helps me with irons is to practice with wedges and focus on the take away.
