Johnny Miller is high on my list (his sycophants on NBC aren't high either). But the two things that drive me nuts in golf are 1) people who yell excessively in social rounds and 2) courses that prohibit walking.

another pet peeve is: Parents sitting in the bleachers thinking they know the strike zone from a side angle...and yelling come on Blue, get some glasses....

oh yea...forgot about that one..

or mommies and daddies pitching tantrums because the "coach" is "causing" his child to play poor

Golf pet peeve ... dumb@sses that don't/won't repair ball marks on the greens or replace divots in the fairway ...

16 years an NCAA umpire I heard the quote above enough times in my career; the best one ... when a batter gets hit by a pitch and the coach yells out, "Blue (I'm wearing a black shirt) you 'gotta' make him get out of the way ..." I don't 'gotta' do nothin' ... go take your base!!!
I make all my own clubs:
Driver: Snake Eyes Python XLD | | 3-Wood: Snake Eyes Python XL Faiway, 15*  | | Snake Eyes HT Iron Set, 3-, 4-Utility, 5-, 6-Hybrid, 7-PW Cavity Back | | Golfsmith G-40 Wedges, 52, 56, 60 | | Distance Master DM-AS2 Putter | |Ball? The last one I found ... that... was YOURS!!

You know what really grinds my gears? The weatherman.

He always lies. Either its supposed to rain and a ballgame (or a round of 18 since this is a golf forum) is prematurely called or its not supposed to rain and I get drenched.

Anyone ever see that Curb Your Enthusiasm episode? SOOOO TRUE!

Honestly, it's when people start quoting Caddyshack. It wasn't that funny of a movie. And all the references people make using that movie?!? Can people be any more cleche`?? Seriously, what the hell is so funny about that movie? Sorry, I'm not the fun police but I just don't get it.

The whole "Get in the hole" thing is really annoying. Doesnt bug me as much on par 3's but a par 4 and 5? Cmon.

I agree about the cult status of Caddyshack, it really isnt that funny but it is one of those movies I have to pull out once a year and watch, i.e. Field of Dreams, A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th St., Halloween etc.

People who give course management advice when you have not played the course. "You want to be here" or "Take out driver and hit it on X side of the fairway."

I appreciate the act of kindness and the intended good will. You know what really works, instead? Here's a course outline maybe this will help.

No worries. I don't offend easy. I know it (Caddyshack) isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I could stop myself from chiming in.

The guy that sits behind you at every sporting event that knows every stat and calls every player by their first name, "Chris sure it having a bad game, he has the fewest holding penalties by a starter with more than 20 starts in school history".

The guy that pitches a fit like a 2 year old everytime he hits a bad shot.

NBA players with gazillion dollar contracts recording music and acting when they still can't make a free throw.

Club throwing. By far the most idiotic thing you can do. I don't have expensive clubs but I can't afford to throw them around.

I was playing in a foursome last year and this guy we know threw his club. The guy he was riding with drove off to his ball and made him walk to get the club and then catch up with the cart. It was great.

The only other pet peeve I have doesn't have anything to do with sports. USE YOUR BLINKER!!!! It's right there by your finger. How lazy can you be.

I'm pretty laid back most of the time but those two things really bug me.

Stupid rules.

A NASCAR one. Official from NASCAR was being interviewed on the radio last week and was asked that with GM/Chrysler cutting back their ad budgets if we would see more foriegn cars in NASCAR. His response: a company has to build a stock 8-cylinder engine with a carburator to be NASCAR eligable, since none of the foriegn companies do that they aren't eligble for NASCAR, but if they wanted to make the big investment to do that (like Toyota did to get into NASCAR) then they would be.

A carburator? It's been 20+ years since carburators have been replaced by fuel injectors. Who the heck sells engines with carburators? But NASCAR keeps car companies out because they don't sell cars with outdated technology.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
