Not to mention running into the stands and throwing haymakers like he was playing Fight Night round 3.

The whole "Get in the hole" thing is really annoying.

You're right, someone yelling "get in the hole" at a NASCAR race is the worst.

A DRAW on a 3rd and long can actually be a higher percentage play than a pass IF the defense is playing alll out to stop the pass.

Stupid rules.

But I guarantee if Penske wanted to run his newly acquired Saturn's they would bend over backward in order to find a loop-hole. But then they kick out a single car team just trying to make it like Carl Long, who run a wore out engine, then fine him $200,000.00 because it is .001" oversize in each cylinder to me is preposterous!!

I would say it is the parents and coaches of youth golfers who do not take the time to instruct the young players in the total game that is golf. That would include respect for the course, the rules, and traditions. Repairing ball marks seems relatively unimportant to many, fixing divots? Forget it. Jamming the flagstick in while damaging the hole... well, I see it a lot.

O.K., this should put me in the dog house. The rude behavior of some golf fans from some parts of the country that yell at players while trying to set up for a shot. The players are for the most part just like we are and an occassional finger flip is appropriate in some cases.

Way to go Sergio!!!

When I heard the dumb carburator rule, it made me think they are just creating a hole that someone else would move into. Asia has a big stock car circuit that is based upon the smaller cars they sell there (I believe Jackie Chan is involved with it, owns a team). The small car street racing growing on the west coast shows there is interest in racing these type of cars. If they expanded the circuit from Asia to include races in the US they would probably find a market.

I certainly agree.

While I do find myself a NASCAR purist, I do believe that politics has ruined our "sport". Personally I feel that carb rule you mentioned is absurd given the fact that there is no longer any production cars running carbs any longer. And as a purist I wish it was the way it used to be as in "run what you brung". If a car company want to race their car they should be allowed to as long it meets safety and weight requirements and can maintain speed. Although that carb rule is outdated I do not seeing it change in the near future. One of the simple reasons for that is in safety. For instance, If you cant run a carb, then you have to run fuel injected, then you have to have a electric fuel pump(again illegal for safety reasons). Technology and politics have long been outrunning the sport of NASCAR; not by choice but due to purists like myself. We want the competition and the exposure but we don't want to give up the roots of the sport that we still enjoy and relate to when we take to the sport every Friday and Saturday night at our local dirt tracks. Its a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation that in my opinion has ruined CART and is in the process of splitting F1. Too much money in any sport brings politics, with politics brings separation and contempt from fans, which breeds failure and certain demise.

I never said someone yells get in the hole at a nascar race. That's why I pressed enter and wrote about nascar below it.

With the draw on 3rd and long, I didnt want to go into detail on how the running game was for the team doing it and how the pass/run defense was for the other team. My bad I guess.

A DRAW on a 3rd and long

I bolded two operative variables in your statement. Even so, if the percentages were 90% successful no matter what defense the other team is playing....it would still bother me. I understand why they run the play....I just don't like it there. It does keep the opposing defense honest though...

My other biggest pet-peeve in other sports is the lull between hockey and football season. It's a good thing I/we have golf to fill the void.

Common, this is weekend golf not the pros, whats the point of standing 5 minutes over every shot, just makes them more nervous, and they still shank it.

And yeh, Newbies standing to close when I'm swinging!

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
