I love my 60* wedge. I use it around the greens from 10 yards and in, and sometimes out of a bunker that's close to the pin or a small green. Once I figured out how to hit it and when I (for my game, anyways) should use it, it is a great asset that helps me stick the ball close to the pin.

The only time I don't use it when I'm within 10 yards of the green is if I am on the fairway and have a the opportunity to chip it up on the green with a 7/8 iron. Otherwise, I'd rather take a full swing and flop it up with my 60*

I don't need a 60. I had one, but prefer the 58.

I love my 60*, I have no idea what I did without it earlier! My irons are spaced at 4* increments, with 9i at 44, PW at 48 etc, so my 52* GW 56* SW 60* LW setup continues the trend and makes my distances very easy to regulate IMO. I rarely have a shot distance that falls between my 3w and 3i, and I have shots inside 100 yds constantly ... so I picked up the 60* to assist with these short shots.

I use a 56 and a 60, I use the 60 around the green much more than the 56. I played several great shots with it today that I would have found harder with the bounce of the 56.

If I have a "go to club", it's my 60. I feel much more comfortable hitting a full 60 than a half or 3/4 56. I can hit my 60 90yds on a full swing. I also use it to chip with around the greens and for flop shots if I'm stuck behind a bunker or other tricky times.

I swear by my 60, but I guess it's not for everyone. A buddy of mine says he can't hit one. The guy is a long hitter with his woods & irons but put him inside 100 yds and he struggles like hell. I tell him he needs to learn how to hit a 58 or 60 degree, but he's not one to practice very much so he just keeps on stinking it up from inside 100.

I own a 60. I bought it thinking I could do cool high flop shots that stick to the green on landing. However I discovered that I skull the ball to some degree 75% of the time I use it, so its now just for show. also its nice to say in conversation "yeah I have a 60".

I do not have a 60 but I have a 58 and I never use it full swing. It's basically my creative short game club. It's also what I use out of greenside sand.

I play a 52 56 and a 60 or 62. I feel a need for lob wedge when shooting uphill and for full shots from 50-70 yards.

Having a wedge you love, aka a favourite club is something I can attest to.

I guess having 15 clubs in the bag makes also makes things very versatile for you? On your Signature, you list:

Driver, 3w, 5w, 23h, 3-P, 2 wedges and a Putter = 15 sticks? Hope you've not been playing in any competitions with 15 clubs in your bag?

I love my 60*for ~60 yard "full swing" type shots, where I want to really go after the ball. I also love it for "cutesy" little shots, like flop shots from a fluffed up lie. Im able to really get under the ball and can get it nice and high een from a tight lie.

I use my 60* from pretty much anywhere inside 100 yds, aside from a bunker.

As far as what I leave out, I'm very inconsistant with woods off the fairway, and very consistant with my 22* RescueMid. So I carry Driver, hybrid, 3-PW, LW, SW, putter. Really, I almost never use the 3 or 4 iron, so I could take those out, and I already have an extra spot in my bag which I'm trying to decide how to fill. I am considering getting a 16* 2i RescueMid to go with my current 4i, but I don't know if I want to mess with what works for me already. I'm also thinking of getting a new set of wedges, and going 46, 52, 56, 60. Haven't really decided yet. But as others have said, I rarely need more options off the tee than my driver and hybrid, and if I've misshit my driver poorly enough to need a long club from the fairway (or need to go another couple hundred yards on a par 5/dog leg) I just reach for the hybrid. I was hitting maybe 1-2 good shots out of 5 with my 3W and 5W, and 4.5 good shots out of 5 with my hybrid, so I finally took the woods out of my bag.

I use my 60 degree maybe three times per 18 holes. I'll use it for the following situations.

1. Full 85-95 yard shot
2. extremely short sided in greenside bunker or greenside rough.

I used to use it on all greenside bunker shots, but I just replaced my SW a couple months ago, so I've been using the new SW now for most bunker shots.

I was reading the other day that Arnie plays with two bags to hold his 30+ clubs... good enough for me! and yes I carry 15 also, and when I get a 64* it will be 16.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
