For that price, I'd say Odyssey if you like a soft insert, TM Rossa Core Classics if you like something in the middle, or the CG classics if you like a firmer putter. To be honest I really like the $25 maxflis they have at golf galaxy.

When you find it, you know it. Doesn't matter if it cost ten dollars or ten day's pay. I found a diamond in the rough for $70-80. People have made me offers, and one guy tried to trade me his $300 cameron. It's just an odyssey dfx 5500 blade. It's got a more rounded sole, most of the model are more square. This was after weeks of looking, tried prolly 100 putters, all price ranges. The very first time I struck it, I knew. Like butter. If you don't get that feeling, don't buy. The putter is the most personal club in your bag; you don't buy it, you marry it.

Hey, I am currently looking to invest in a new putter. I am looking to spend upto $175. Putting is the part of my game i need the most work on and I feel that I need to get a solid putter to start getting a solid stroke on the ball. I was wondering if some of you experienced players could throw some advice and suggestions my way on brand, model, and types of putters I should consider. Also, I am 6'1" would a 33",34", or 35" best suit me?

Go to Golfsmith (or wherever) and try blades, mallets, long, short, etc. until you find one that feels just right -- then buy that one. That's what I did with my first favorite putter (a Yes Tracy that I lucked into by sheer accident while I was waiting for a friend who was hemming and hawing over which new irons to buy). If they start dropping on the goofy green carpet from 25 feet away consistently then you have met your new best friend.

yep, those are some very nice putters for sure

Yes, absolutely great putters. Made in Illinois by one of the best putter makers around, Bob Bettinardi. He mills parts for the military so you can understand how precise his CNC machines are

i suggest that you try the taylormade monza spider putter it has a huge head on it but has the smoothest stroke i have seen. if you dont like your putter that big there is a smaller model. (the itsy-bitsy spider)

well, i cant say enough good things about my SeeMore FGP (MSRP $185 NEW). Although the design is not for everyone. some like it, some hate it. Ive sunk more 20-30 footers during the past 7 months Ive had it than i had in a couple of years prior to getting it. i like trying out new clubs but Im almost certain this one will stay in my bag for YEARS to come

I picked up a SeeMore FGP for the first time a little while ago, and I am totally on board! I always thought they were kind of weird looking, but that putter just felt perfect when I picked it up. I never understood why the majority of people prefer offset putters. The zero offset of the FGP looks perfect to my eye.

same here. and just like you i was using the Odyssey XG9 before i started using the FGP. i dont know what it is about the FGP but my putting has been on fire ever since i picked it up a few months ago. im pretty sure the FGP will stay in my bag for years

I just picked up the brass See More FPG this weekend. It's feels really good and is about automatic inside 6ft.

I browsed FGP's on eBay for fun, and now I am the proud owner of a 34" FGP Black!

It was the exact model, lie, and length I wanted from reputable seller with headcover for $65 including shipping! In the pictures it looked like it had been used about two times. I couldn't believe the deal, and I hope it is in as great of shape as advertised when it gets here. Woohoo!

that is a good deal. i hope you like it. personally, i didnt care for the FGP Black, so I ended up selling it (sold it for $85) and i bought the new FGP Stainless instead. completely different feel to it which i preferred. its all personal preference though. Zach Johnson uses the FGP Black so just cuz I didnt care for it that dont mean squat, lol

Yeah, the aluminum bronze is definitely a unique feel. It's the one I tried in the store, and I liked it, although I didn't do an in-depth comparison or anything. It sort of adds to the quirky appeal that the putter has, in my opinion. Anyway, for $65, I figured I'd pull the trigger.

for sure. plus if its in really good condition and you dont like the feel of it, im sure you could sell it for more than you paid for it. if you dont like the way it feels, try the new stainless model or one of milled version. i even preferred the stainless feel over the milled version too. but thats just my opinion

    • Rory at the crime scene again from yesterday (#15).. Let's see what he does after this piped drive. If he mangles this b**** again, Imma go out and jump in a puddle.
    • If you're going to make claims, back them up with facts. Do you have any facts that support this claim that Rory does this when under pressure?    Did the hyper aggression negatively affect his play when he won The Players this year making that 2 wins in 4 starts for him at that point? Can you provide some evidence directly showing how his hyper aggression has negatively affected his play?   This isn't even accurate anymore, they called the divorce off.  If you're going to criticize someone at least get your facts straight.
    • Why if you're just going to wait next? Are they behind? Rounds took over five hours yesterday.
    • My goodness Rose is slow!! Pick up the pace dude.
    • I hear the points from OP (@TommyRude, decent first post BTW), but these 'never' takes are almost always illogical. Masters is the one of those places where an 'older' player has the best chance. Having said that the second shot on 15th IMHO was a bit of gamble which I think in some way could be labeled as lack of discipline. It seemed even short irons/wedges were bouncing off this green. A 4-iron seemed like a very low percentage shot from 230 out. Bit surprised Harry D agreed with the choice.  Yeah, well we have a player who has been playing like a god for last couple of years without a complex (seemingly) and people would rather watch cardboard decompose. So, yeah, Rory serves what we ask and hope you are wrong.
