I need a couple additions to my bag. I have a HUGE gap in my clubs. I dont use my 3 or 4 iron at all because I cant hit them.

All I have left is a driver, and then my 5 iron is the next club.

I usually dont need more than a 5 iron on par 4's, but on par 5's and drives that I mis hit, I could really use a club in between my driver and 5 iron.

Do you guys recommend a fairway wood or a hybrid? How bout different lofts? I need something that is easy to hit like my 5 or 6 iron, but will give me between 200 and 215 yards...??

Does something like that exist?

Thanks!

Jim

Wow, if I had to decide on just one, I'd go 3W because it's my fallback off the tee if the driver is mad at me, and I can also hit it off the deck well. The hybrid clubs can be so versatile though. Why not get both a 3W/5W and a 3 hybrid or 4 hybrid?

go with a 3wood and a 17-20* hybrid. no need for a 5w, the hybrids are so easy to hit and supply the same distance. much better accuracy too.

i would say get a 3w and a 4i replacement hybrid. Figure out which you like better and get the 5w/3i equivalent (ie 19* or 21* club)

If you want something easy to hit that'll go about 200 yards. Go get yourself a 07 Taylormade Burner Rescue. Super easy to hit and they go fairly high so they will plop down nicely.

Id go with a 3w and a 3h and 4h, there isnt much difference in distance between my 3w and 3h and most of the time ill choose the hybrid because its easier to hit from the fairway, 3w is fine off the tee but the few times ive hit it from the fairway ive had mixed results. Maybe its because im really not that great of a golfer, i did hit the 3w pretty good on a couple of par 5 2nd shots in the last couple days, but average it out and Ill hit the 3h farther from the turf, ill save the 3w for the tee shot on short par 4's mostly.

Go to a store and try different clubs.

What exactly is the technical difference of a hybrid and a wood? In appearance, they are starting to look more and more the same to me. Same look, same shafts, same lengths. Hybrids may come in more lofts maybe, but you can get 3, 4, 5 and 7 wood. Don't know about 6 and 8, but most people use their irons from at least 7 and up.

Thanks for your input everyone. I think Im going to get a 3w and a 4i hybrid. Ill go from there if I should get a 5w or a 3h.

Thanks guys, good advice here!

I have better luck with 3 & 4 hybrids out of the fairway or rough. Now that I have my hybrids, I only use my 3 wood and 7 wood are for tee shots on long par 3's, dog legs, etc.

I just picked up some Adams A3 Hybrids from a large sporting good reltailer, they are last years models on sale for $69.99. I went to the range and they are extremely easy to hit, seemed to fly high and far. I would recommend these clubs.

    • Here on Arg.. On 9 hole courses the priority on hole one is for the group starting their second 9.  On regular 18th holes courses, the one with the tee time have priority over a group that was allowed to tee off the 10th as an exception. On summer when you divide the tee times on the morning and afternoon wave, the ones from the morning wave that started on hole 10, have priority on hole 1 over the ones on the afternoon wave that start on the 1st hole.
    • I have an Edel putter too and I like it. This one, however, is a "rare" putter. They are only making 25 of them.  Personally, I don't see the point of this particular "rare" model. I'm not sure what putting, Edel and the moon all have in common. This one's weird to me.  Normal Edel putters are $250 to $350. This one's a "rare" moon model. They are only making 25 of them.
    • I bought an Edel putter ten years ago, paid for both it and the fitting.  I'm glad I did.  The best part of it isn't the design;  it's the fact that at least I know my equipment isn't the issue when I have poor putting.  I can see, in a different life, being something of a club collector, so at least I'm not getting a bunch of putters every time I have a poor performance putting.  Although I'm probably getting a new putter cover, my current one is showing signs of age.  I just have to find one I like.
    • Day 9 (August 19).  Hour of practice session;  split a range bucket (I was working on my usual, although also working on alignment, which I think is somehow worse for me on range mats than on grass), chipped and did some putting too.  This was outdoors, off of mats (for the full range;  putting and chipping were off of grass).
    • I am not spending $699 to 3 putt greens. and yet Scotty Cameron is still $499 you can still get a Ping or Odyssey for $299.
