I can't remember a time where Tiger has done well when its cold and windy. It seems the field gets the best of him. Maybe his hands don't work as well in the cold. I know he's gotten away with mediocre shots when one of his tendency's arise but this is because his hands can fix the problem at impact.

He was +1 yesterday in perfect conditions when over 50 players were under par. I don't think it was the weather.......

He had a bad couple of rounds. It happens.

He just hasnt played well in this tournament. Whenever he goes cold like this, he ususally comes back and goes apeshit for 6 months. We might be on the verge of another of these "tiger tears"

I think Tiger just has not played good Golf. He struggled away through the Course and hit too many wayward shots. You need accuracy to play Links Course, I play them often and the fairways are not as wide as St. Andrews here or the rough as difficult.

I'm sure he'll bounce back, he'll go back home and work on his game with his coach, esp his driving.

I was considering your opinion here and was leaning towards agreeing with you until...

Yeah.

Two pretty bad rounds for Tiger Woods. This isn't giving him credit, by the way (though Tiger haters may take it as such), but I still find it somewhat incredible that with all the crappy shots he hit, he still finished one back of the cut. But yeah, I think he might have almost played worse today than he did at TPC Sawgrass earlier this year.

Tiger hit 3 or 4 bad shots today and got heavily penalised....but still shot 74 in tough conditions. I had to have a little chuckle when Tiger hit his ball miles right on the 12th or 11th and had to search for his ball amongst a sea of spectators and had 2 false alarms on finding his ball just to add insult to injury.

He's a golf professional- there's no excuses!

Oh yes, there is. For most professional golfers, there are lots of excuses.

For Tiger Woods however, there are none, if you believe some of the articles and people on this board. Singh, Kim, Garcia, Mickelson, Cink, Furyk, they can all play terrible and everybody agree that they had a day off. When Tiger play bad, all the theories of why this happened pops up. His knee will never heal again, his family takes up too much time, he doesn't practice as much as he did before, he's not as committed to the game as he was before. And along come those who object to his dominance the last 13 years on the PGA Tour, somehow ignoring all his PGA Tour wins and his 14 majors. All of this just because he didn't play top golf the last two days.

I don't envy Tiger his unofficial entourage though. On the BBC coverage a well respected commentator, Peter Alliss, said that in years when he played (1950's 60's) when a ball was lost the spectators would fan out and search methodically.

Most of the half-wits today were trying to "talk to Tiger" instead of helping the man find his ball! Vicarious fame, I ask you! How he concentrates on any shot with cameras clicking, people moving about and f*****g idiots shouting "in the hole!!!" on the tee shot of a par 5, I'll never know. These morons should be banned from golf courses. Some of the crowd at the US Open were a disgrace.

He played really badly yesterday and still had a scor that had you thinking 'he could still win this'.

He played possibly worse today and had a remarkable score, all things considered. But it wasn't good enough. TBH, he played so badly these last two days he didn;t deserve to make the cut. His play from just off the green on 16 (was it? first into the bank, didn;t make it, rolled back, next putt smacked miles past) indicted that he'd lost interest. But he still had a chip on 18 to make it!

Yeah, this pisses me off so bad. I've got a couple of friends that are Tiger haters. Sure enough, immediately after his round my phone blows up with text messages... TIGER MISSES CUT! ISNT IT SWEET?? Yet, when he wins, I dont say a word. And when their players miss the cut, again, I dont say a word. It seems that I see this trend all too much, and it's so annoying. I really dont understand it. When Phil plays poorly, no one ever dismisses anything he did in the past. Does anyone have any idea why it's like that????

its because he's so good that the haters dont get much of a chance to have a go at him so they do it on the rare occasion he does!

Yeah, there is a double standard for sure. Geoff Ogilvy missed the cut in this tournament and he has played some of the best golf of anyone this year. Yet you didn't hear a peep about Ogilvy missing the cut. And you certainly won't hear anyone questioning the state of his game. Tiger has a couple of bad rounds and suddenly his career is supposed to be in dire straits? What a BS double standard.

    • Most of people does it! (but none over the ball) Gave it time.. Hehe...  Funny story... almost a decade ago I started to aim 3..4 fingers away from penalty hazards on long shots. At 270 yards, each finger is around 10 yards sideways (I got to that number experimenting at my home course and using google maps). Been my dispersion around 70/80 yards this almost put the penalty hazard out of play for me. But most importantly I found a way to measure distance sideways on a golf course.  Of course till today everybody ask me what am I doing with my fingers on tee shots, even on approach shots.  Last year, playing a mid-Am I was paired up with a guy with a caddie, the caddie was his friend but also a decent golf PRO. After a couple of holes he asked me what I was doing and he pulled out his phone to show me an app or "system" that can be purchased were it tells you how much a finger is in yards from different distances. Of course if I could figure out how to measure distance sideways in a golf course many people can do the same and make it a trend an even sell it so... you never know! Thanks for the info. The patch is getting worse... more accurate but less intuitive to follow. I rather look funny doing aimpoint on my knee and just use 1 simple formula than using this patch.    I invite you to measure it yourself, don't trust my numbers. Even your arm length, height and finger width are going to change the numbers. Over the 3 footer was clear that my fingers were farther away from the hole standing up than the others. (even with the arm stretch issue i will explain in the next paragraph) Over the 9 footer I agree with you that it should be the longest of the 3 but in practice it wasn't. My best guess is the arm position on each set up. Standing tall the arm is in front of the body aiming a little down, really easy to stretch. Kneeling, because of my spine been tilted forward (20/30°)  the arm is aiming to the front but more up been a little harder to stretch. Laying on the floor the arm is pointing over the shoulders making it even harder to stretch. The less the arm is stretched, the less distance the fingers are from the eyes resulting in bigger results. At this distance it started to matter, but not on shorter ones.

    • I believe the golf courses are leaving some opportunities on the table to educate and even insist that folks repair ball marks and fill in divots. They can and should put up signs strategically of what is expected. It may not cure the problem completely but it certainly would raise the level of awareness and improve on the status quo. Edit: I think the courses should straight up empty threaten folks that they would be asked to leave if found to be leaving ball marks unrepaired. Seriously.
    • Yeah, that's fair.  I'm not sure what the solution is.  I do remember "back in the day" when the ranger would remind you to fix your ball marks. I don't see that anymore either.  I guess my point is. I grew up in a time when fixing your ball mark was "cool". Because it meant you hit the green and made a ball mark. It's just not cool anymore.... which (in my opinion) is too bad.
