Hey guys,

thnx for the replies....I figured that I would get some grief about "stylist" but what would I call her?? hairdresser I guess...

So the two majority replies that I've gotten are

1. abandon the round to get the girl
2. finish the round by walking and keeping my focus

So no one (other than one reply) would have tried to run the rest of the course?? Then again, if I did run it and shoot +2 over the final four holes coz I was rushing I wouldn't have been impressed either.

....But 12 years later, I haven't shot a round under par yet....

How many girls have you hooked up with in the last 12 years?

Next time, given the chance, finish the round.

Like I said, if I were fortunate enough to get an opportunity to break par today I would take it. However, at that time the appeal of this girl exceeded my desire to break par and it seemed like an opportunity I shouldn't pass on. It paved the way to many great years.

i only read the first page...
but i dont know what kinda parties you go to... mine usually last a pretty long time... adding an hour to a round and taking away an hour at a party is like nothing... its not like you were hosting the party...
i say it all depends on which is more of a one shot opportunity... the girl or the game...
if you were a bogey golfer that had never shot that low and didnt think you ever would... the game would decide... if she was unbelievably hot and only in town for the night... id go with the girl 100% of the time... specially if it was a sure thing
RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

I would have done both, could have just made up some excuse why it took you so long to get there, maybe even make it real good like stopping to help someone who was broke down to really impress her with what a great guy you are.

No offence, but if you think guys 50, 60, 70, years ago wouldn't have acted the same way your dreaming. Men have always been men. Women to for that matter. Then and now. Walter Hagan comes to mind.

And in what way was that comment one of a gentlemans?

Plus it was your friend's sister.. if i had a hot sister and any of my friend's touched her I would beat the hell out of them.

So your 20 something sister doesn't have the right to make her own choices? You tell her who she can date and how to conduct herself with guys? What is this... the 18th century???

I feel sorry for the other half of any relationship you are involved in. Talk about self centered! A gentleman honors his commitments, and a round of golf with a friend isn't the same level of commitment as a date with a woman. You can always play another round of golf, but you may not get another chance with that girl.

Definitely. Golf is just golf. He could have met the love of his life that evening, and missing such an opportunity to finish a round of golf would be a case of seriously misplaced priorities.

Personally, if I had an evening date I wouldn't be playing golf in the afternoon anyway. That's just cutting everything too close, especially when you are talking about having to drive a half hour just to get to your personal stylist. Try a little better planning... either play the round earlier, get your hair cut the day before (or just skip it and don't worry about it), or skip the golf and focus on your commitment to the date. By leaving the course and not finishing the round you only disappoint yourself. Had you done anything differently, then you would have disappointed both yourself and the girl. You made the correct choice.

And I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with your epic idiocy. Did you even read his post? He basically left to meet her at a party for the possibility of "hooking up". That's some commitment, champ. Talk about fail. Good lord did you really compare a round of golf with a friend to meeting a random girl at a party for the possibility of getting some strange as a "commitment"

Since you're obviously a moron and didn't read the first post, I'll post his story here :

Long story short, I was in my early 20's, it was a Saturday night. I was going to a crazy houseparty. A friend was also invited to the party and had a sister in town who really wanted to come to the party but she was reluctant as she didn't know anyone, as she was an out-of-towner. She was a couple years older than him and was my age. I had never met her before but had seen pictures of her; to summarize she is of Asian and European heritage and worked at Hooters while in College. So I suggested to her brother that she come out and I would take care of her

The OP was committed to nothing. His friend's hot out-of-town sister was going to be at a party he was going to. He wanted to nail her, so he went to said party to open the door on the possibility of shagging her. He ended up nailing her, mission accomplished. I'm not sure why you and others are having difficulty comprehending those simple facts.

He didn't even talk to her before running into her at the party. He was obviously just interested in nailing her, how can you consider that a commitment, a date, or let alone gentleman like?

Those black dots really blow your mind, don't they?

Great story - should be implemented in every ethics/philosophy class for first year studies.

Barring any thoughts you may have had about nailing this friends sister - if that was your intent - oh forget it you were in your 20's so chuck true honor out the window - keeping an arrangement was the right thing to do. I certainly know if there were a beautiful woman waiting for me I would ditch a round.

But the personal best thing does tug at the sleeve. I guess it amounts to the girl and how great she was.

In all honesty, I always keep a commitment, however awful the consequences (or great - but those don't count) may be. These days with cell phones popping out with newborns, you could have called from the course, explained that you were running late, finished your round in peace, and still won the girl at the end of the night...

That's what Kirk would do - he doesn't believe in a no-win scenario.

couldn't you have just worn a hat? then you would have a round under par to brag about as well.

Did YOU actually read it? Or are you just short on comprehension? The ONLY reason she was going to the party was because the OP had offered to be her escort (which sounds like a commitment to me). Nothing was said about "nailing her" (your crude phrase, not mine, nor is the OP's). To me you sound like a first class jerk. Both your reaction to the topic and your name calling serve to invalidate anything else you might say.

Have a good day.

    • Played Musgrove Mill today. 72.3/155. +9 for 15 official holes as 2 holes are closed, and the par 5 16th plays as a converted par 3. We played the first three holes over to finish 18, and parred 1 and2 amped bogeyed 3. The good: hit every fairway. 1 less than normal for the converted par 3, but the second time I have done that this year. My sand wedge approach on 10 after a monster drive hit the pin in the back left corner hit he pin and spun away to 9’, and I missed the putt.   The great: hit 8 GIR and 7 were inside 10’. Needs work: Missed every birdie putt. No lip-outs. Just struggled on fast greens. Three-putted the par-5 9th with the pin on the back tier and jut missed hitting my approach to the proper level and it spun all the way to the front of the green.
