So last weekend I payed for 2 players for 18 holes with a cart, came out to be about $57. We played 9 and made the turn, got about 1 hole in and were poured on. So I go inside and ask for a raincheck and the guy gives me two 9 hole games with a cart signed on a business card (he said this is their usual procedure) So I redeem one last Tuesday (the fees are less on weekdays if that matters) and I play 9 with a cart with no problem. I set up a 7:24 tee time for this morning, head out to the course and check in. When I go to pay I handed them the raincheck and they said, okay your total is $37. I didnt understand so they explained to me that the raincheck only covered my cart rental and I still had to pay the greens fees. I told them I thought I paid for my cart rental and greens fees the last time but couldn't use it because we got rained on after 9 holes. They said I still needed to pay. I went home...

Is this normal?

No, it doesn't sound normal. A visit or phone call to the course talking to the pro may straighten it out.

A raincheck should cover whatever you paid for. If you paid for 18 with a cart and didn't get to play 9, you should get 9 holes with a cart for nothing. If you had 2, it should have paid for a full 18 with no charge. I would go back when different people are there or call the pro and explaid what happend.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

What doesn't sound normal to me is this raincheck idea. Around here (pacific northwest) we play golf in the rain. Unless there is lightning the course is open.

A couple days ago I was playing a resort course in Mytle Beach and I payed for 18 for my son and I. Basically the round went like this, We tee off and played one hole and they blow the horn for lightning. We go back to the clubhouse and wait for over an hour and they clear it for everyone to go back out. We make it to the 7th green and all hell breaks loose, pouring rain/thunder, the works. by this time it's too late to wait out another storm and get 18 holes in so I go to the proshop and the guy tells me since you completed 7 holes he can only give us a rain check for 9 holes.

I believe if you pay for 18 holes and don't even get to complete nine then you should get a rain check for 18, but I guess most golf courses don't agree!

Played 11 holes last week when the heavens opened up. Family member called and said tornado watch at home. We bail. Called later for a RC and was flat out refused.....WTF?

Rain checks are standard policy in most of the country. Maybe you like to play in the rain, I don't. However, if it's raining when you tee off on the first hole, you don't get to change your mind later.

This is also a standard policy. My home course will only give an 18 hole rain check if you haven't teed off on the 4th hole. You can only get a 9 hole rain check if you haven't teed off on the 4th hole of any 9 hole round or the 13th hole of an 18 hole round.

My home course wouldn't give you a rain check either if you had left the course. You have stop in the pro shop and get it before you leave.

At my course if you finish 9 you don't get a rain check.

Anything less than 9 you get a rain check for all 18 but they sure as hell make you wait it out!!

The course I play at has "NO RAIN CHECK POLICY". Really sucks since I played 4 holes the other day and ended up with no rain check.

This is our policy:

Rain Check Policy

Rain checks will be issue when:
• The course is closed when you are supposed to tee off.
• It is raining and you have not teed off.
• A steady rain interrupts your round.
• Lightning or heavy rain closes the course for more then 30 minutes.

Rain checks will not be issued when:
• It is raining and you choose to tee off.
• An intermittent or passing shower occurs.

Rain checks will be issued for green fees and carts as follows:

18-hole rate paid:
0-6 holes completed Full rain check
7-9 holes completed 9-hole rain check
Tee off on the 10th hole No rain check

9-hole, Twilight, Senior, or Junior rate paid:
0-6 holes completed Full rain check
Tee off on the 7th hole No rain check

You must present your original receipt in order to obtain a rain check.

Rain checks are valid for the current season only. 9-hole rain checks may be applied to an 18-hole rate by paying the difference. Weekday rain checks are not valid for weekend play
