The Penta TP by TaylorMade.

I searched and did not see any review of this new ball. Will be available to public on Dec. 1.

Goosen and Garcia are going to play it at the PGA Championships...

This quote contradicts itself as they say the ball will appeal to slower swinging amateurs...

Encased under all those layers is the core, which is made from an extremely fast, low-compression material that only the fastest swingers will be able to activate. However, TaylorMade says those who do can expect more ball speed and less spin on drives for increased distance.

I have to admit I like news from TM. The TP Red appeal to me in every way, and I enjoy it almost as much as the Pro V1x.

I will check this one out surely. Thanks for the heads up.

I have made one hole in one this far. While you are reading this, I am most likely out on the tee trying to sink another one

I may try one if I find it out on the course but for now, I am happy with my used Ebay Maxfli Blackmax's. Can't beat 50 cents per ball for a damn good ball!

Work on some reading comprehension man. The point of the article is basically that it has 5 cores. Each reacting to a certain type of swing sort of thing.

The article doesn't contradict itself... it implies that the ball is good for amateurs with slower swing speeds because of the outer cores..... BUT also would be a good fit for fast fast swingers because of that central core. I don't believe it personally, but the whole marketing ploy behind the ball is that it's one ball everyone can play very well or whatnot. from slow to fast hitters.

With 5 layers it's probably going to cost way over anything on the market so far.

Do 5 layers beat 3? Do 5 beat 9, for that matter? It doesn't seem that solid of an idea and a bit of a fluke, to be honest.

Anything said right now would just be pure speculation until the ball is in the hands of the consumer. I'm sure there's been speculation and doubters about every golf improvement that's ever come out beforehand. I'm sure there were serious doubters about cavity back clubs, 460cc drivers, graphite shafts, etc. There was just no internet for people to express their doubts to millions of people.

I will wait for it to come out before making any statements about it, but more than likely, it will be too expensive for me to make it the ball of choice.

5 Layers?

Maybe they added flannel underwear and a bulky sweater for winter play.

I was fortunate enough to be part of a test group for this ball.... it is a great golf ball. Long off the tee, great spin with the irons and short game, and soft feel with the putter. Joke as you will, but the technology works. Anyone who normally uses a premium ball owes it to himself to try the Penta TP when it becomes available.

Just a joke. No harm meant...I mean...I use a frickin square driver!!!

None taken... just adding my 2 cents to the discussion.

I used to use a square driver too... that lasted for about 2 months.

i was lucky because i went on vacation with my family to a course that i am friends with the pro and i got used as an alternative in the mens league. the guy i was pared with designed the pro v1 and helped design the ball that is going to replace the pro v1 in the next few years.
he gave me a blank golf ball which he hinted that it was the ball to replace it and it was so sick, i was pulling it back with my 4 iron and hitting 320 yard drives which is 10 yards longer

the new technology is amazig and it works

Well why not do away with this whole "N-piece" paradigm and move to continuously varying materials? Just find a magic material that can cure to be high-compression in the center, low-compression at the edge, and varies continuously in between. Then you can market an INFINITE-PIECE golf ball technology.

That is, until someone files a false advertising lawsuit on the distinction between ~10^23 and infinity...

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
